Eartha Kitt’s politics that she spoke out about, mostly make sense - believe in Black youth, don’t send our boys to die in Vietnam. She did also say that she didn’t think marijuana use OR the entire “hippie culture” would even exist without the Vietnam War, which is… kind of out there, probably not true and pretty imperialist when you think about it.
She still ABSOLUTELY did NOT deserve what she got for speaking her truth to power. Incredible talent. And certainly never abused anyone, unlike so many famous people who saw no consequences in their lifetime.

I live in Philly, about 15 min from Poe's Philly house. If you ever have a chance to visit it, DO. It's the coolest freaking place. They show you where he wrote the tell tale heart and the black cat and a bunch of other stories and poems in a really cool way.
