I live in GY and GY is in about worse shape possible! Unemployment at an all time high, poverty all time high, crime all time high as well as anti social behaviour, fishing industry pretty much nonexistent, businesses closing down, drug use getting out of control, homelessness at an all time high, grimsby is pretty much screwed. I lived here 18years before Brexit GY was doing fine employment up, crime & anti social behaviour nonexistent with having police out on the streets, barely signs of poverty, fishing industry was doing pretty good and since Brexit it’s completely screwed town over.
To watch so many people who got conned by Johnson farage mogg in believing those charlatans that grass would be greener on the otherside was devastating. To be voting against your own best interests and not doing the working out on how Brexit would negatively impact day in day out was an absolute catastrophe. But just just how powerful right wing media influence has on people. They say jump readers ask how high that’s how much influence right wing media has which is beyond scary.
Heartbreaking to watch once was a thriving fishing town to go down the drain thanks to the constant lies, gaslighting, manipulation from tories, farage and right wing media.

I work in a factory that makes the packaging for these fishing companies in Grimsby. The demand for said packaging has dropped dramatically.
Also, Grimsby has been ruined by Brexit. There are other factors, but Brexit is a big one.

I worked in Grimsby a few times before, it's very run down no young people nothing modern anywhere it's sadly one of the worse places I've ever seen not one good thing I can say. This guy is doing no one in Grimsby any favours here they need help and better government not total delusion.

In this case, this clown saying everything's actually great. Then, he gradually walks his bold statement back, cherry-picking which facts he'll highlight while downplaying those unsupporting of his thesis (so long as nobody challenges him IRT), until his narrative more closely conforms to the reality of the situation. If people want to be convinced that the scent of roses is what they're actually smelling every time Brexit breaks wind, they'll cling to that declaratory statement at the beginning, while dismissing the rest.
