This is one of the first times I've ever heard explain why or what qualities to listen for when choosing a microphone. Excellent video!!!

Great videos. Thank you. Would love to hear what you can do with the Upright Piano there too!
Best case scenario and ‘In a pinch’ single mic.

loving these videos! I've just started on my journey of home studio recording, I have bought a fairly cheap microphone (mxl440) to get started, I didn't want to splash out until I knew what I was doing. Thanks again

well, I even tried comparison of HSMC001 (cost about 50€) vs vintage U87 (value at least 2500€) and when mixed into the whole rock song, the difference wasn't that groundbreaking,
I think as sound engineer it's really important to listen and hear what's going on :)

Really, I know that about cheap mics :,D you can play with the EQ but never fix the harsh highs, I just love that on my electric guitar on high gain, but not on the voice.
That last phrase, the perfect definition for the perfect microphone.

Great advices! What about setting an Home Studio with a Neumann u87 Ai linked to a Focusrite Clarett 2Pre? Those preamps are good enough for rocking the Neumann u87 Ai?

Thank you so much for the videos! My first mic I ever bought was a neumann 107 and i'm currently saving for a u87ai and a pair of km 184's. It's funny how you blurred that one microphone out though, haha.
