Yes, talk about the free anti Chinese Chinese newspapers here in Sydney Australia. I tore it up to the delight of Chinese people living near me. The heading stated that Trump had won the U S election. This was at least two weeks after the 2020 election! Never saw the paper again. B T W Henan noodles are the best. Thank you for this Sarah, Carl and Xiangyu.

Anywhere in the world, if there is a border dispute, it is usually the result of a line drawn by an Englishman; if it is an internal dispute, it is usually the US that is fueling it. Difference in implementation of divide and conquer strategy.

speaking as an old boomer, its great to hear the young and upcoming taking such a great historical and intellectual interest in these issues. I would like to hear an analysis of this idea of "Chinese Communism," is this a western concept or a Chinese concept? Karl Marx, writing at the library of the British Museum, put forward the earliest ideas of Communism based on long held theories of Western Socialism, so Communism is clearly a Western concept. The early Chinese communists took up this concept as the Qing Dynasty collapsed under its on hubris and as the Chinese people clamored for something different. Chiang Kai-shek and the Nationalist on their side took up the idea of western republicanism, with a healthy dose of Christianity and fascism. But in China's long historical tradition, the Chinese Civil War that ensued was nothing more than a struggle for the "mandate of heaven" and to establish a new dynasty. This is much more important for the Chinese than any idea of "Communism." Communism, therefore, becomes nothing more than a concept in which the Western nations can demonized China and a pretext to seek to take down China militarily in this abstract quest to defend the US-led "Western hegemony (colonial tradition)." In this light Mao Zedong is seen by the Chinese as the founder of a new dynasty and his brutal rule was an effort to establish that dynasty and wipe out any other threats to that rule. The greatest Chinese dynasties, including the Tang and Ming, began with civil war and a brutal suppression of all political opposition. In both the Tang and Ming, the early rulers resorted to fratricide in order to establish the unified rule of the new dynasty. Incidentally, the average lifespan of a Chinese dynasty is about 250 years. The US will be 250 years old in 2026. Meanwhile, in the west, Mao Zedong is seen as nothing more than a Communist dictator on par with Stalin and that National Socialist Hitler. Since 1917, the West has always been compelled to demonize Marxism and Communism. This continues today, especially after the fall of the Soviet Union. Ever since Mao's death in 1976 and the start of market reforms, we have seen a steady return to China's root philosophies of Confucianism, Daoism and Buddhism, while the ideas of Communism have been reduced to "socialism with Chinese characteristics."

Great guests, fantastic explanation of history. If only Americans could listen and learn at school a little about history. If only actual leaders could learn and reason about history or at least read and get to know how it has been played last century. Lacking education is leading the world to an unknown situation, which we cannot imagine the end. I lived enough to know all the names they were talking about, and they were still in power. I wish young people like you to thrive and make the world hope for a better future. Thank you for this excellent video.

I believe it will be a lot harder to get Taiwan to rise up against China and a lot easier for China to isolate Taiwan if it does bend to US control.
