You can even sing the refrain in German:
Drinnen im Licht, lass die Lampen an, (In i ljuset lämna lamporna på)
schalt die Lichter nicht aus, lass die Lampen an, (
Släck inte ljusen, lämna lamporna på)
schalt die Lichter nicht aus, lass die Lampen an, (
Släck inte ljusen, lämna lamporna på)
schalt die Lichter noch nicht aus, lass die Lampen an (släck inte ljusen än lämna lamporna på.)
Edit: Tack så mycket @George Mailatescu I've added your translation.
You're right about that, we actually use "Schalte das Licht an / aus". Machen is just a weird word for doing something that is more often used by teenagers and youtubers, but the correct way of speaking German, we should avoid saying "machen" when we say "Das macht Sinn", it translates to "That makes sense" but we should say "Das ergibt Sinn". Ergibt is a word from "ergeben". It can´t be translated easily into english. English people say "That makes sense" and that "make" is the same word for "machen", so it got kinda famous here in Germany and many people talk like that because of the English influence in the German language.
"Ich schalte das Licht aus" means I turn off the light. The word schalte comes from the word Schalter, which means light switch or just switch, and schalte is a verb of the word "switch". So you're switching the light on and off by saying "an" or "aus". In Swedish it can be really släck, even if it sounds different, men jag älskar sverige och svenska språket. Jag lärar mig svenska med Duolingo
