Do professional sports players and the general public respond differently in these studies? There may be a selectivity effect going on where those that find it useful for themselves (or are unfazed by scowls of others) go on to play professionally. Therefore, there could be a disparity between advice to athletes and to the general public.

Many sports include breaking the personal space bubble, so talking about someone having a scowl on their face may get decentized to the effect of the face, due to it being apart of the sport. I would like to see how smiling in a medium/high contact sport may effect things since it isn't what's expected.

I found in competitions, getting angry or aggressive made me lose focus. I have to remain completely neutral and emotionless to achieve 100% focus. Guess I must be a Jedi!
