Some Native American traditions believe that when Death comes you have the chance to dance your last dance and Death has no choice but to watch. The wooden Native American looking into the distance is a tell tale sign of this artistic vision.

In my humble opinion, this is a masterpiece of emotional expression. When I watch this, I have thoughts and feelings of existential dread related to the mere moments just before we die. The girls are injured and broken, but they dance... It's symbolic of how we desperately cling to life and are in denial of what death really means, and at the very end she sees the her truth. Destruction of the ego and the acceptance of the unbreakable rule that nothing lasts forever.

It looks like they used that filming technique where you choreograph to the song at a faster tempo but then in editing, you slow the footage down to match the actual song tempo which creates this uncanny, lagging effect. It works really well with the video, it feels both frantic and delirious, like how it feels to run in a dream

This song feels like waking up from one of those really weird dreams when you take a nap in the afternoon and when you open your eyes it's already dark out and you feel so unsettled.

I found this video the week my wife passed away. The similarity between her and the main character I cant even explain how it makes me feel on top of the haunting music and imagery. I always come back here for a good cry. Makes me think my wife went through something like this after she died but I wasn't able to see her because I'm not in that realm. FML

This song was way ahead of its time. It wasn't for good times like 2010s, it was for hard times like 2020s

I love how the second and third dancer seem to know very well what happened. They have blank expressions, are focused on the dance. The first dancer is shaken, confused and in pain. She dances somewhoat involuntarily as if to establish she's well and alive. The others already know. Specially the third dancer, who pops eerily behind the POV and beckons us to follow her to the final dance.

She's dancing with the dead One last dance As she follows the footsteps of the others who suffered from the same or similar faith Great tribulation at the end where she realizes Death is upon her shoulders (Idk i just made this up) [i did not get this from one of the top rated comments, i honestly thought i was alone in this perspective. I looked and saw it was right below mines lol and yeah its similar but we are far from the same thing. Its good to know others share the same perspective tho.]

This video strikes a chord with me because my brother died in a car accident where he was hit on an overpass standing outside of his car, launched him off the bridge onto the highway below about 70 feet. He was in the Army and he was 18. Would be cool if I could re-create that scenario in a music video like this one.... as odd as that sounds...

This song is a musical mosaic of nostalgia, longing, grief, and comfort...forming a feeling that has no name.

I just can't stop watching this video, And I think it mostly has to do with the mysterious message behind it. Or at least trying to decipher it. I looked into music reviews of this video and got nothing more than it's a zombie cheerleader music video. I was unsatisfied with that answer and came to my own interpretation. Judging from a lot of the comments I'm not the only one who gets an ethereal experience from this video. It's bothers me and I don't know why. It seems unresolved. The music and the video forces you to think about what exactly is going on. Let me take it from the top. The cheerleader that was driving gets out of a car after a car accident. Seemlingly the only one in the car at the moment. She seems slightly dazed as one would imagine after a car crash. But then her dancing movements aren't anything like a cheerleader's movements. They look angry, confused, almost incomplete. Like a cheer that's started but has gone wrong. She stops her movements as she collapses onto a pole. Is she wondering why things seem off? She stumbles into the cafe onto the jukebox seeming confused and frustrated. If you look up you see a sign for Cadillac Jack's. Cadillac Jack's is a casino located in Deadwood. Deadwood is an old western town named as such because of all the dead trees. You may have even heard of the HBO show Deadwood that was inspired by the old western ghost town. Now most of the reviews I read said this diner is abandoned. But if you look around at the clean interior which is also well lit you expect it to be full of people with waitresses in 50's garb to be wondering around. Except it's not. The cleanliness and seemlingly functioning but empty diner enforces the idea of otherworldlyness. Enter in cheerleader #2. She's extremely different from the first cheerleader in the way that she is bloodied and pale but she seems more relaxed. Like she's accepted something that the first cheerleader hasn't yet. They dance. #2's movements are the same as the first cheerleader but both cheerleaders dancing is wrong. The movements are uncheerleader like. More angular, abrupt, contemporary. After this dance cheerleader #1 still looks like she's still in pain, confused and upset. She stumbles back outside. But oh surprise! More of her squad. Cheerleader #3. She looks more pale and in worse condition than cheerleader #2. As she gets into her dance she falls back as if she were going to hit the floor. She doesn't. Some of her movements do seem to be remnants of her cheerleading days. Other movements such as her beaconing you to follow her seem unnatural. She has a secret she wants to let you in on. As the whole squad starts to dance in abrupt angular movements they all look injured except cheerleader #1. She moves to the front of the pack as reality starts to set in. Her injuries start to show too. The look of realisation and worry as to what is actually going on crosses her face. There's an empty pool in the background. Then we see the accident and all the cheerleaders are dead. The movements in the video seem very deliberate. It was cheorographed and filmed but slowed down to match the music. But it's off by a second. And it seems very deliberate as to why. It just enforces that otherworldly feeling. That things are moving to the beat but slightly off but in slow motion. Something that couldn't happen in real life. You can see as the cheerleaders' hair falls as they are dancing that it is indeed in slow motion you can't get your hair to move that slowly when you are dancing like that. SO many unanswered questions and maybe thats why this video bothers me. It's not that i don't like it. It bothers me because something is off but i'm not sure what it is. Are the other cheerleaders ushering the first cheerleader from life into the afterlife? What is the symbolism behind the empty pool. Is water a symbol of life and since life is absent here her life has run out? The other cheerleaders seemed to have passed before her and have accepted this new life. Are these cheerleaders in Deadwood? Is this deadwood another dimension where the deseased go? Im very interested to hear your interepretation!!!!

The cheerleaders were headed to their home game when they crashed outside the diner. Instantly all but the driver were all killed. The main girl was the one driving and she's sick with guilt over all her friends. The newspapers she kicks up in the beginning report the accident that she just wants to forget.

To film this music video: The audio was sped up to 2x time while the dancers were doing their best to keep up! Then, during editing, they slowed the footage back down to create this floating ghost effect. I absolutely love this music video ❤ So creative! ⭐️
