When I first started tapping into music production a few years ago, I only had the budget for the 9th gen iPad at the time, which is a great tablet and what I use occasionally for drawing and other things today. When I got into college, I needed something more reliable and got the M1 MacBook Air, which I drive everyday. From my experience, the iPad is a good companion piece, a relaxation device. The MacBook is for getting actual tasks done that you otherwise wouldn't want to do. I get more work done by using my M1 Air more than the iPad.
That being said, a 20" inch folding iPad/MacBook would be interesting. The best thing I can come up with to as why Apple is working on this at all is for artists. I giant screen for artwork, maybe music production, or possibly video editing. Will be crazy expensive though and won't make much of a dent if any in current sales I presume.

I got an ipad and apple pencil with a logitech combo touch, which is a case with a detachable magnetic keyboard and trackpad. I had hoped that I wouldn't need a laptop, but it didn't work out that way. Ios is too limited for me to use it as a laptop replacement. My ipad is for reading and drawing with procreate these days. I've used a lot of touch screen laptops, so when I got a macbook air, the first thing I tried to do was touch a text field on the screen and start typing. Didn't work. A folding or 2 screen macbook with a physical keyboard and trackpad, that has full iphone and ipad app support, and apple pencil charging and support is a dream device.

Itās so niche but professional classical musicians are switching in mass to the 12.9ā IPad solely because of its large screen size (and apps have the capability to turn pages by winking/making faces at the camera) the idea of a bigger one in any capacity would of warrant an instant purchase fro me

Just merge the iPad Pro and the MacBook and call it the MacPad Pro
