Just merge the iPad Pro and the MacBook and call it the MacPad Pro

Laptops have peaked. Now the only way to go forward is to do whacky shit that not many people will use. Laptops have peaked and is a fully tapped market

I love the stare Matt has when Austin goes on a monologue response.

Iā€™m just imagining the dual-screen MacBook as 2 iPads hot glued together LMAO

When I first started tapping into music production a few years ago, I only had the budget for the 9th gen iPad at the time, which is a great tablet and what I use occasionally for drawing and other things today. When I got into college, I needed something more reliable and got the M1 MacBook Air, which I drive everyday. From my experience, the iPad is a good companion piece, a relaxation device. The MacBook is for getting actual tasks done that you otherwise wouldn't want to do. I get more work done by using my M1 Air more than the iPad. That being said, a 20" inch folding iPad/MacBook would be interesting. The best thing I can come up with to as why Apple is working on this at all is for artists. I giant screen for artwork, maybe music production, or possibly video editing. Will be crazy expensive though and won't make much of a dent if any in current sales I presume.

I think the BlackBerry Storm taught us that the physical press touchscreen kinda sucks. I think they should put the taptic engine in it. Make it vibrate at that point with actuation, like the force touch home button from the Galaxy Note 9.

I got an ipad and apple pencil with a logitech combo touch, which is a case with a detachable magnetic keyboard and trackpad. I had hoped that I wouldn't need a laptop, but it didn't work out that way. Ios is too limited for me to use it as a laptop replacement. My ipad is for reading and drawing with procreate these days. I've used a lot of touch screen laptops, so when I got a macbook air, the first thing I tried to do was touch a text field on the screen and start typing. Didn't work. A folding or 2 screen macbook with a physical keyboard and trackpad, that has full iphone and ipad app support, and apple pencil charging and support is a dream device.

I actually agree with Mat on touchscreens on laptops. Even when I have a laptop that has one I never use it.

I tapped into the Ipad Pro because it was offered with a data plan, and it's more user-friendly for the music school im attending. It does suck os wise, but the usability is amazing. Still wish I had a Macbook Air to run with it.

I would want iPad is on that. I donā€™t like Mac but I do like my iPad experience. Also it would be awesome to open the whole thing and use it landscape mode when remote gaming

The future will certainly be that components all will be small enough anyways. So the choice will just what formfactor you want or need. Same power however you want.

I absolutely hate touch screen laptops. It is the fingerprints. It is the awkwardness of moving my hands off the keyboard to the screen instead of using the trackpad or mouse.

A laptop without a physical keyboard will never work. You need to be able to feel the keys under your fingers in order to properly use a keyboard

Itā€™s so niche but professional classical musicians are switching in mass to the 12.9ā€ IPad solely because of its large screen size (and apps have the capability to turn pages by winking/making faces at the camera) the idea of a bigger one in any capacity would of warrant an instant purchase fro me

I think they should do a 12-14in folding iPad with a magnetic keyboard that snaps on top of one side of the screen. You could still use the touch keyboard, but to me that would fill that middle ground between the iPad and the MacBook.

If the kernel of MacOS is Debian, a form of Linux, and if you use VM Wear on a toch screen, there is touch functionality. Debian also has a touch screen GUI
