I saw Passenger live in Vancouver of 2016 at the Orpheum, I met Mike outside the side of the venue as he and his band were leaving, I got to shake his hand and tell him how he inspired me to start singing and playing acoustic guitar. I got Mike to sign the back of my ticket, "It was very nice to meet you Adrian, all the best and well wishes. - Mike xoxo". I was 12 when I accidentally discovered Passenger, I'm 25 now, thank you Mike and the band for all that you do. Please, keep it up ā¤

Here is the slightly terrifying new video for ā a song for the drunk and broken heartedā which is the title track from my new album (which if you missed the announcement - comes out in January and is available to pre-order from www.passengermusic.com/ )
Iām a massive fan of the recent joker movie and also the batman trilogy and this song felt like the perfect excuse to dress up as a clown and make everybody feel a little bit uncomfortable ā¦ (because this year hasnāt been uncomfortable enough ā¦.š
)
I really love this song , for me it tries to capture how depressing sitting in a pub and drinking can be when youāre not with the right people or in the wrong frame of mind . I feel like getting drunk just magnifies how you already feel so if youāre miserable to start with its a tough gig .
The clowns (other than being scary and weird) represent the idiotic and exhausting expectation that people should "put on a smile" or a "brave face" ā¦ even when things are tough . Weāre taught to do it from early age and I think its probably the root of a lot of unhappiness ā¦.
I went through a rough time whilst writing these songs and my hope is that they resonate with people going through something similar .
A huge thank you to my new band ( btw weāre called "clown daddy and the broken heartsā and weāre available for weddings / bah mitzvahs etcā¦.š) and the incredible team of people that helped bring this video together ! We had so much fun making it .
