That bit in One Piece where they have an automatized threadmill in the nobles garden but its just a bunch of slaves pulling the wheels underneat seems very prescient

A long time ago, me and the boys came up with a parody product "Tea Water." It would be 100% bottled tap water, but only meant to be used for tea. We laughed at the stupidity of the idea. I fear it would have made us billions.

The "there is nothing artificial nor intelligent about the current state of AI" quote never rang more true.

In defense of Juicero, the CEO had juice in his veins. Thereā€™s no chance thatā€™s good for the brain.

As a Computer engineer, I will say the "hardware limit" we're running into is greatly exaggerated. There are still ways to physically improve the design without shrinking the node. Edit: autocorrected node into nose haha

More fun facts about the juicero from Wikipedia: - The machine was originally priced at $700 but then immediately reduced to $400 because of low sales, a helpful reminder that when people say companies price things based on input costs they are bullshitting 99% of the time. Companies just put the price as high as they can get away with. - In 2017 they filed a copyright complaint against a competing juice company for patent infringement. The infringement in question? The "trade dress" of the machine, in other words it's physical appearance. Remember that bland white half-cylinder with a lid in the video? They had a patent on that. - You may be picturing the process of using this machine as "put in packet and press button". Nope! The machine would not function without wifi access and downloading of an app on your smartphone. Let me be clear: I am not saying that it had some weird niche special features that could be accessed via a wifi connection. It would physically not squeeze anything without connecting to the wifi because the machine needed to scan a QR code on every packet of juice and upload it to a central server to verify that you bought that packet from the company. As soon as the company went under and stopped selling packets that machine became a $400 (or $700 if you bought early) paperweight.

Did anyone else immediately think of how technology works in the Flintstones only instead of a little bird it's a guy named Sanjay looking at the camera, shrugging and saying "it's a living!"

Don't you love it how we all got used to underpaying retail workers to the point even having domestic workers working in the industry is considered "too expensive"? Man... Just pay people an appropriate wage ffs...

This is all over the place, most stuff that's labelled AI is just using underpaid workers. Any LLM that learns from the internet needs a worker staff filtering out all the hate speech and abuse they find so the bot doesn't say bad stuff.

This idea that companies don't like how AI systems are black boxes that can't easily be managed is so true, and any company that doesn't realise this, is making a mistake. Like how (I think it was) Air Canada recently lost a ruling by a court as their chat bot gave incorrect advice to someone regarding getting a refund on a flight. This incorrect advice was ruled as coming from Air Canada (which the company tried to dispute) and they lost a bunch of money on it.

This is EXACTLY what Iā€™ve been saying about all this technology! People are saying ā€œAI will replace everythingā€ like ā€œooh AI can even park cars now, watch out if youā€™re a Valetā€ and Iā€™m like freakin robots and tech like this costs lots of money to run! Do you really think every freakinā€™ BJā€™s Brewhouse is gonna have its own AI parking car when they could just pay some dude $3 and commission fees? If even Amazon, the largest freakin company in the world that makes more money than human brains can even comprehend is too cheap to pay for their own technology and would rather just outsource to India why would we expect anything more than that? Unfortunately, the most effective method for Capitalism has already been invented ages ago. Wage slavery. And also regular slavery.

This is insane. šŸ¤¦ā€ā™€ļø It sounds like a rogue episode of Futurama from 2002. Again, billionaires shouldn't exist. Edit: that juicer commercial was just as ridiculously infantilizing as any early 2000s infomercials. Ron Popeil would be proud.
