Bloodborne may have one of the best stories of all time. From its worldbuilding to its overall narrative there is not one part of this story that ruins the experience.

Quick note: Eileen does, in fact, remember the Hunter's dream. If you make an enemy of her before the Grand Cathedral, when she kills you she has a line that says "Do you still dream? Tell the little Doll I said hello."

What I love about Bloodborne is that even though lore-wise the world is filled with monsters and abominations roaming the streets, you play as the scariest thing out there. The Hunter.

“Soulsborne” is like, 7 parts souls and ONE part borne, and borne still gets to be in the name for the whole genre. Must mean something

In a way, I think Bloodborne’s unanswered (or even unanswerable) questions help to elevate it as a game about cosmic horror. We have to contend with the fact that there are aspects at play within Bloodborne’s world that entirely defy explanation or even human comprehension.

This game is the one that got me into the soulsborne series. The weapons that can change into one form or another, the pure chaos of trying to be faster than the enemy rather than using a shield, and the jaw dropping atmosphere was so fun.

My personal understanding of the Wet Nurse fight is that Mergo's crying is being used to beckon the Great Ones, and the Wet Nurse's job is to keep Mergo crying. Meaning that when you kill the Nurse, Mergo's nightmare is over and the poor child can dream peacefully.

I think the reason why Yharnam seems so much more peaceful after Gehrman kills you is because the night of the hunt is finally over. I'm probably completely wrong but I was always under the impression that the city was just stuck in the night for the rest of time until the player character completes the main story.

I agree that Bloodborne is one of the greatest story’s never told. Over the years I’ve inched closer to understanding and putting the puzzle together. I highly recommend a video series by Charred Thermos, An Agony of Effort. I looks at bb thru a Victorian Era Medical viewpoint and is truly insightful. Praise!

Is it me or Bloodborne is getting more and more attention recently? So happy to see more people are interested in this wonderful piece of art.

Trick weapons are one of the coolest things FromSoft ever spawned. And they're all viable transformations, too. Not just magically changing weapons but there's actually a level of mechanical stuff involved. Hell, Man at Arms even made a Saw Cleaver.

The thing i like the most about bloodbornes story is that there are things i just straight up cant explain and the eldrich horror Like when the taxi horse comes to pick you up for cainhurst And after you make it to cainhurst you look behind you to see the horse and its driver are long long dead Or the door to the forbidden woods that guarded by someone behind the door that demands a password from us When we tell him the password and the door opens to reveal that there was no one behind the door Just a corpse sitting on a boulder

I find it very cool that the Great Ones might be as alien to each other, as they are humanity. With that in mind, I was under the impression that whilst it's motivations were unclear, the Moon Presence's purpose was reasonably obvious; it wanted to kill Mergo (and perhaps other Great Ones). That's why it's happy to release the Hunter after Mergo is dead. Presumably whatever taks it had for Djura and Eileen, they also completed. It keeps Gehrman to maintain the Dream and keep luring in pawns for its schemes. I also thought that Mergo was Oedon's child which it, like all Great Ones, has been trying to conceive.

“It only took four hours to beat.” Me thinking about the orphan of Kos and Lawerence. And the stress dreams I had about them trying to learn how to kill them solo for the first time.

"Lovecraftian" is a word that tends to be overused, but Bloodborne truly earns that label.

There are so many lore videos about Bloodborne but honestly this video is the one that pieced together some of the more convoluted pieces of the story for me. Excellent job!

Got into Bloodborne August last year during a lockdown. My God did I fall down the rabbithole. 9 characters, 500 hours, and platinum. Safe to say, I love this game. It's incredible. The story, the combat, the world design, the characters. It's all great and sticks in your mind. Even though I've only played it for a comparatively short period of time (not in terms of time spent playing but over how many months/years), I can happily say it is in my top 3 games of all time alongside Half Life 2 and Fallout:New Vegas. It certainly has its flaws, but Bloodborne is a timeless masterpiece. I'd be very keen to see a sequel, but only if From Software is driven to do so, and can really create something extraordinary again.

29:29 Interesting detail about the Awakening Headstones in the Hunter's Dream; whenever you select any of them, the top of the list always includes the text "Awaken Above Ground," implying that the Hunter's Dream is actually the lowest point of all the realms. Also, in the Nightmare Frontier, you can see the masts from Fishing Hamlet below and the Nightmare of Mensis above, so those three are stacked on top of each other, with the Hunter's Nightmare being below the Fishing Hamlet due to the Snail Woman dropping there from the "sky."

The fishing hamlet being visible from the nightmare fronteir further proves the layer theory. Also its enterily possible that the rom that is in the cathedral is simply someone else who accended as there bodies are entirely different.
