Short-Term Pain for Long-Term Gain - Alpine A524 Revealed

Alpine's A524 F1 car has finally been unveiled to the public (sort of), alongside the Alpine A424 LMDh Hypercar at their London launch, alongside drivers Esteban Ocon, Pierre Gasly, Mick Schumacher and more. Repeatedly described as an "aggressive" car, it's been completely redesigned, according to the team, including a new, carbon-fibre-heavy pair of liveries. But will it help the team fight their way into the top 5, or drop them down the pecking order? Sam Hall chats with Jon Noble live at Alpine's launch (with a special guest!) and Jake Boxall-Legge to discuss everything interesting from Alpine's launch.

I hope F1 adds a rule about how much has to be painted. It could be as simple as "Everything except (insert a small number of parts) has to be painted (or wrapped or whatever they use)". They could still use black, but it'd have to be a black colour, not just bare carbon fiber.

The Alpine Hypercar is an absolute banger. Lovely. The F1 car is as underwhelming as the Alpine F1 team already is. This said, I do think Alpine should run 2 cars each with their own livery. The Alpine/BWT car is the blue one and the BWT/Alpine one the pink car. The drivers flip a coin for which car they drive for the year. I do not like the livery, much like the Alpine team - feel sorry for the drivers though, especially for Gasly.

Two-carbon carcasses that tend to prove that the Alpine engineers failed at dropping the weight excess associated to the 2022 and 2023 versions!

Why is every launch listed as “aggressive” yet its all the back marker teams?

Why would any team waste both money and weight to add any more paint beyond sponsor requirements? They’ve been de-incentivized.

I personally like the livery quite a bit. I think it looks quite good. I'm not an alpine fan at either.

A regulation for minimum paint weight might seem ridiculous, but would probably take care of the primary carbon colour trend.

idk why people are hating on the livery, it looks good. yes there's the expected carbon limitation but other than that it looks great

It's still WAAAYYYYY Better than that Green identity crisis from "Stake". At least Alpines car follows a theme. I quite like it.

Why are we crying about livery’s???? If teams are having to manage weight by not painting cars does not not speak to how hard it is to bridge the gap with these regs and not lack of creativity?

Silly Season... Many chess pieces to move before '25. Is it still a thing for teams to loan drivers to other teams? I predict Piastri will be $$$ loaned $$$ to Mercedes for '25. Wont Tsunoda end up at Aston M - Honda?? Much shuffling and jockeying for seats to come.

Don't you guys think that only Alpine every year since 2016 make stupid decisions in terms of car concept? They have money, resource, technology, people, yet they still produce shitty cars with minor successes, as if almost they don't want to win... crazy.. I won't be surprised that they finish 7th or 8th in WCC and then Renault is going to sell the team to someone else, as because we see. This is not Haas. These are multiple world champions. I can agree that after Lotus era the team was very weak, but it's been almost a decade. Something is really wrong in this team.

Alpine engine is junk car is junk. Every team is just copying last years red Bull. They will all be filler teams again.😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Geez... Bloody poms. Continent bashing Alpine. I think it's, colours, look good compared to some of the others. Let's hope Alpine, and all the other teams, are closer to RB.
