Saying nobody emotionally connects with black midi’s music is WAYYYY OFF. If you’ve ever experienced serious anxiety or ADHD this stuff is blissful

Marlene Dietrich was an absolute legend. She was one of the best singers of the 20th century imo. She was German and being alive during WWII, Hitler wanted her to be a status symbol for what he called his "Aryan race". She refused so was hunted down but miraculously escaped Nazi Germany, and contributed to the allied forces by helping Jewish people escape from deportation to death camps.

👋 I'm a teenager and I love black midi. For as many punk dads and music geeks in their 20s as there are in the black midi fandom I still think there are lots of younger music fans who are into this band.

I feel like because Black Midi isn’t so obvious with their personality or emotion it actually allows for listeners to connect to it on an even more personal level. Personally I love Black Midi for their musicality, but some of the most profound emotional experiences I’ve felt from music has been from their catalogue. Also it obviously wasn’t out when this podcast was done but Hellfire is very cohesive thematically and has really powerful messages about society today and the human experience.

Haven’t you heard the podcast with Bill Bruford and Morgan Simpson. Go listen to King Crimson especially early their 80s iteration.

As long as this band stays together, I'm seeing an amazing progression. For me, the total inaccessibility of their experimentation is compelling in knowing their potential is pretty damn high. I want them to rein it in just a tad though. And probably I mean Geordie needs to be reined in a little. Not too much.
