Interestingly Cleopatra was actually Greek, being part of the Ptolemaic dynasty that ruled Egypt at the time although she was the first one of them to learn the Egyptian language so 😎🇪🇬 Also ودي أسافر إلى مصر 😁

I agree with your stance. As a fellow "other" minority (Chinese-Cantonese), I can see that the two races are heavily twisting our culture to fit their liking for some sort of agenda. I also understand how you feel getting pushed to the side and have no opinion from personal experience; people automatically assume I speak Japanese or Mandarin Chinese. However, I believe it's not entirely the fault of the people, but rather the companies of Hollywood who make these movies to make a profit by fulfilling the content said people want (not all black/white people want this). They are the ones that truly want to make America viewed in Black and White again.

Moon knight did a pretty good job of respecting Egypt so that’s some progress right A lot of the people behind the camera were Egyptian

Cleopatra can't be a black African figure because she was Greek. Her family, the Ptolemies originated in the Greek Kingdom of Macedonia (Alexander the Great). Cleopatra was just the last member of a Greek Dynasty who ruled Egypt for a period {Greek/Hellenistic period of Asia and North Africa}.

I’m a white American and I stand with the Egyptians against this dOcUmEnTaRy. Ironically, the gateway to my fascination with ancient Egypt since childhood was “The Prince of Egypt”. I am aware that the movie is based on a story told from a Jewish perspective, but the way the animation was breathtaking and the way Egypt was stylized was gorgeous to look at. If it were up to me, I would have made a movie about ancient Egypt in that animation style but told from the perspective of Egyptians. An adaptation of cleopatra or Akhenaten, or even the real life Rameses II. Anyway, I want more Ancient Egyptian content and I want it done good and right. The white washed bullshit we got from Exodus: Gods and Kings and Gods of Egypt have got to go. And the Afrocentric bullshit from African Americans trying to appropriate Egyptian history also needs to stop. Marvel’s Moon Knight series was in my opinion a solid step in the right direction. I hope I get to see more of that in the future.

As Egyptians, we have our own unique identity and are a blend of Middle Eastern, Mediterranean and African influences. Proud to be of Egyptian heritage. ❤

Cleopatra was Greek/Macedonian with a mix of Persian ancestry. Ancient Egyptians were Northern African and Middle Eastern by genetic research studies spanning 4000 years along the Nile delta just like modern Egyptians are their ancestors in the genetic studies using the genetic materials from mummies. Less than 20% are Arabic, and less than 10% are sub-saharan toward the south of Egypt and it was much lower in ancient times. What people forget is that Muslim and Arab are two distinct things. Muslim is religion, as Arab is ethnicity. Most Egyptians are Muslim under Islam as Ancient Egyptians changed to incorporate Greek and Roman religions changing to Byzantine Christianity, and then to Islam an Abrahamic religion with Christianity, Judaism, and Islam. Most also assume that Kemet meant the land of black for black people is rather silly as it meant the black silt that yearly Nile floods left behind indicated by the appearance of the star Sirius in the Egyptian name Sopdet before the flood period. Nothing of food staples like grain would grow outside the rich black silt of Nile Valley in the desert sand lands named Deshret or red lands. Egypt also went by the name Tawii or Two Lands for Upper and Lower Egypt.

I don’t know how these afrocentrists can believe that Cleopatra was Sub-Saharan when it is very well documented that she was a Greek Macedonian Queen of Egypt! We have 350+ Years of her Genealogy. [One of Best documented in all of Antiquity] The Ptolemies adopted the Egyptian Pharaonic custom of incest, to keep the Royal Bloodline within the Family to help ensure it’s Macedonian Greek Continuity! We have Statues, Coins, Frescoes, & other Artwork Depicting her. All depictions of her are with Greek Features (Classic Greek Nose) with typical Grecian Hairstyles while wearing a Hellenic [Greek] Diadem. We have Statues, Coins, Frescoes, & other Artwork depicting her Relatives: Fathers, Grandfathers, Grandmothers, Uncles & even her Children all going back at least 300+ Years. All their Proper Names & Epithets were Greek as well! We have dozens of Historical sources that talk about her life. Cleopatra belongs to the Greek & Egyptian Historical & Cultural Legacies. That will NEVER change!!!! 👍….🇬🇷🤝🇪🇬

Cleopatra wasn't Egyptian or at the very least the chance that she had Egyptian blood (from the elite priestly class) is extremely small. The proper historical depiction of her should therefore follow the Greco-Persian depiction; i.e. she should be depicted by someone who looked mediterranean (the actress need not not necessarily be mediterranean but just have that look).

You finally spoke about this whole thing! The Afrocentrics were trying to steal Egyptian history and culture for decades now but it’s only being talked about now because of social media. Good thing the Egyptians are waking up and standing up for themselves! I remember you did a DNA ancestry test and filmed it on YouTube with your friends. One of the friends was black African and when he realized that you have a large % of Egyptian DNA, he made a comment like “wow you’re more black than me” technically he was being discriminating against you because he was implying that HE is Egyptian while you’re not or as if Egyptians are “black” or that people who have Egyptian DNA means they’re “black” Even though clearly black means is Sub Saharan African while Egyptian DNA is Amazigh/berber. Black people have been doing this for a while & they act like they’re friends to Egyptians & Arabs but secretly a lot of them are actually envious & jealous of Arabs & Egyptians because they know Arabs & Egyptians have a huge wide history & culture that is respected. I said what I said idc if anyone’s offended by this. Ancient Egyptians were never black. The only black people that were in Egypt & ruled, were Nubians & they only ruled for 100 years. That doesn’t make them Egyptian nor make them African American nor does it make them the original people of Egypt. Egyptians are Egyptian & they have been in Egypt for thousands of years. Their culture, history, language, food, clothings, habits, traditions etc are all continuous by Modern day Egyptians till today. One example is Sham Al Niseem holiday which was celebrated in ancient Egypt, another example is making Fiseekh which was also an ancient Egyptian famous dish that Egyptians still make, another thing Egyptians still make from ancient times is Kahk, Egyptian cookies made for celebrations. Another thing is some words ancient Egyptians used like “set” which means woman & it still means woman in modern day Egyptian language. There are many other things. This black washing and white washing history needs to stop. We are not stupid anymore and Egyptians will always stand up for themselves & we are not afraid to sound offensive.

It just doesn't make sense to say that this version of Cleopatra is offensive because it's historically inaccurate but then also get upset at the Elizabeth Taylor version when that is historically accurate. If the issue is that Egyptians just want to be represented in their own history that's a perfectly good enough reason to be offended, but to make it about historical accuracy when that's clearly irrelevant comes across as disingenuous. Personally, I hate this because Hollywood is dividing people up over something that's essentially a first-world problem, if Jada Pinkett really wanted to make a movie about black history they could've chosen an actual black queen. As someone who's African American & Sudanese, I would've loved a movie about the Nubian queen Amanirenas! Our history is so underrated and oftentimes gets overshadowed by Egypt. Also it's not right to accuse black people of pushing Egyptians out of Hollywood when Egyptians push out black Egyptians on their TV shows as well.

Have you asked how the Egyptians in Egypt see themselves, because as an Asian, I find that Asian Americans are quite confused about who they are and what constitutes Asianness.
