The millions of people saying this man shaped their childhood tells you how influential he was. Truly the a legend from the East. Edit: I acknowledge my earlier comment wasn't the best comparison

Resiliency is what Toriyama showed us the most. Through Son Goku, we’ve been shown how to get through this 🤟

Crazy how evil people will live forever but someone who was a positive cultural influence to huge parts of the world dies relatively young

In regards to China, Dragonball — especially Goku was heavily inspired by a Chinese Classic Journey to the West.

I legit wouldn't have any friends without DBZ, I was super awkward and sickly as a kid and the only real shared experience I had with any classmate was that we all watched dragon ball after school. Without that I don't know if I would have been able to make friends his work was incredibly significant to all of the world

Dragonball is the first anime for a lot of people. In Portugal if you ask anyone who grew up in the early 90s chances are the first anime they ever saw was Dragonball, followed by NGE and Doraemon.

The man was already a national name with Dr. Slump. Then he created Dragonball which literally defined Shonen manga for everyone else doing it. At the same time, he put so much personality into Dragon Quest that it made the JRPG its own genre, and made DQ3 the first japanese mega blockbuster game that basically the entire nation played. Then in the middle of doing all of that shit, he popped on over to do some of the most unique art the genre's ever seen for Chrono Trigger, helping that game be one of the best ever made. He was so powerful not only did his creations dominate the lists of most successful things ever, but his two greatest students, Oda and Kishimoto, ALSO dominated because of his influence. The man wasn't just the GOAT, he was like five GOATs in one lifetime. Unparalleled winning streak that will never, ever be topped.

Woke up today crying silently. I'm at a loss for words and probably will be for quite some time. The only feeling I can describe is just...a weird sort of emptiness. I owe a big part of my life to this man. BIG part of my life. The dragon ball manga changed my life. Millions of other fans too 🥺 R.I.P Akira Toriyama sensei and thank you🕊 I lost alot this past year but dragon ball has and always will shine through my dark days

My older brother watched Dragon Ball in Mexico, and I watched Z with him as I grew up. Lost him years ago, so this is sad news. Toriyama brought us closer together through his art

Me and my friends / brothers/ cousins grew up on DBZ in Colombia lol. Not many animes get dubbed in Spanish. And the spanish voice actors did a good job.
