Lyrics
You, oh you
Are still a beauty to behold
You've been my muse
Every story that I've told
Oh, take me back some years
To when we were young without a fear
All along you have been the song that I want to hear
I've been down the darkest alleys
Been to the bottom where the angels cry
Thought it had all been, oh for nothing
Until I saw you at the finish line
Forgive me for the ways I've let you down
Won't you give me another chance to make you proud
Oh, flash forward twenty years
Forever keep me young and my conscience clear
All along you have been the song that I wanna hear, oh yeah
I've been down the darkest alleys
Been to the bottom where the angels cry (Where the angles cry)
Thought it had all been, oh for nothing
Until I saw you at the finish line
(Yeah, yeah) Yes, I've been down the darkest alleys
Been to the bottom where the angels cry (Angels cry)
Thought it had all been, oh for nothing
Until I saw you at the finish line (At the finish line)
Oh, I've been down the darkest alleys
Been to the bottom watching life go by (Watching life go by)
Thought it had all been, oh for nothing
Until I saw you at the finish line (Finish line)
I've been down the darkest alleys
Been to the bottom where the angels cry (Down to the bottom)
Thought it had all been, oh for nothing (Oh for nothing)
Until I saw you at the finish line (Saw you at the finish line)

I don't know how Stevie preserved his voice really well but I like to think that God gave him that evergreen voice for him to sing and touch people lives with his music as long as he lives. Many generations have been blessed to hear his soulful songs and I belong to the younger group inspired by him. Born in 99 and eversince I'm a tod, Stevie's songs inspired my muse. Now, I'm 22 and still listening and studying his masterpieces like a student. He is indeed one of the greatest maestros who inspired me to make music and to continue doing it for as long as I can. Long live, Stevie Wonder! π
