Mark Knopfler is to me the greatest song writer, guitar player, musician and producer of my time ( I'm 71) so that covers a lot. He takes me on a thigh slapping ride on one song and draws heartfelt tears on another. I hope he stays forever young and keeps on writing and playing!!

100 years from now Romeo and Juliet will be one of the few songs from the mid-20th century that will still be considered a popular classic. Every time I hear it it still brings a tear to my eye.

He just rolls through ALL those complicated lyrics so smoothly & nonchalant...like it flows naturally doesn't have to think about it, it's all just... There. Dylan did that, Mark is so precisely on the exact beat, hesitation, shrug, smile....all one steady flow. You can tell I like him.

No matter whether Mark wears a handband and is very young, no matter whether he looks like the usual senior citicen. his performance is ageless and captures me all the time. The older I get - I am 86 - the more I appreciate the rhythm. It is all I have right now.........

I first heard Mark with Dire Straits as a junior in High School (1977) and I've been listening & enjoying his music ever since!! hard to believe that's 46 years !!!! and Mark has not lost his touch - as a matter of fact i think his music is better now.

About Mark Knopfler I've written this before, but I make a point of reproducing my definition of the “Guitar Wizard, who I consider a genius and a complete artist. By seeing and listening to his compositions and his performance on stage, we can perfectly identify his exceptional and unparalleled gifts and talents. The artist stood out for sound effects with special technical expertise, as a guitarist, composer and singer of greatest hits. By analogy, talking about his technical mastery is equivalent to saying that he is the very personification of an entire symphony orchestra, reflected in the ability to harmonize, mobilize, coordinate and lead his band, which is made up of talented and multi-instrumentalists, who also feature attracting and delighting crowds around the world. Undoubtedly, he is the greatest guitarist of all time and his guitar represents the extension of his body, his creative talent, his sensibility and feelings, which can be recognized in the rhythms of various musical genres, immortalized by several generations. His genius as an instrumentalist, composer, singer and broadcaster of different genres, moves with great versatility from classical instrumental to country, from romantic to rock to pop dance, etc. incomparably the greatest and best world representative of good music and of a generation that gave rock and Dire Straits the style of being, that Mark Knopfler created and represents for the music industry worldwide speaking. 🎸❤️🎶🎵🎶😍 Amazing how he seems to rock his guitar like a father rocks his son

Dire Straits remains my favorite band, and Mark Knopfler my favorite composer, poet, singer, guitarist and rocker. Every concert is a treasure, and I've seen a few.

I was born near the capes on an island, I grew up there and the Capes of Virginia and North Carolina, traveled the rivers, the mountains and the bays. I love that place and I am going back soon. I want to see the Cheasapeake Bay and the Delaware and all the little hiding places, the Ponies and all the boats and marvel at the History of it all. I Love the West Coast, but it not home. I miss the Civil War Battlefields, It is a reminder of what we should not ever repeat. From wonderful Maine to the Florida Keys I do miss it. But most of all I love America, and people must learn to come to terms with our faults and help each other as much as possible. Do this before it is just too late.
