We're visiting the spectacular, internationally-renowned Reford Gardens or Jardins de Métis in French. Named after Elsie Reford who started the gardens in 1926, there are more than 3000 species spread across about 20 acres. Reford Gardens is one of the northernmost gardens in North America. Very few have been created in such difficult weather conditions. It takes a lot of hard work to keep these gardens pristine: in the summer months there are over 60 full-time gardeners maintaining them! Walking around is a treat for the senses. Don't miss the crown jewels of the gardens: the blue poppies. They're from the Himalayas and are very rare and difficult to grow. Seeing them here is so special. You can also visit the kitchen garden to try eating edible flowers and see the old fishing lodge that became Elsie Reford's villa. Now the villa is home to different exhibitions and there's a lovely porch to relax on. There are several places to eat at Reford Gardens so bring your appetite as well. Of course the food is grown on-site. Don't forget to visit the International Garden Festival, too, which was founded here and attracts people from all over the world.

We are delighted to partner with the Québec Maritime Tourism Board to bring you this new series around one of the most picturesque and historic parts of Canada. We've had a lot of requests to share more of our home country and this is the perfect time to introduce you to one of the best summer road trips in Canada.

What's your favourite flower? I can't pick just one but I love lilacs, sunflowers, red geraniums, peonies, hibiscus, bougainvillea....oh man, this is hard! 😂

Yet another very cool video as always. The blue poppies are really beautiful. (Ps, I think I answered the one bird question posed in the last one); Super cool being able to taste test all of the flowers & herbs that you were able to do so in that garden.. so amazing. Your reaction at tasting the geranium lemonade totally reminded me from when you both tried some of the great drinks & foods from around Europe back you were venturing & exploring there.

Oh wow, what an amazing gastronomical experience you guys had. What a wonderful place to visit. I understand how she loved the Iris. Such a beautiful and graceful flower. The geranium infused lemonade sounds quite interesting. Thanks for sharing.

Really interesting as always, thanks! A very beautiful garden. Loved the edible flower tasting. I've had some before, but more as a decoration than a flavor. Would be good to try them as an integral part of a dish. Intrigued by the geranium lemonade, definitely one to look out for.

Your tour of the kitchen garden was my favourite! So fun to guess what you were sampling! A couple of questions, though, what were the names of the "wet" leaf, and the citrus tasting plant?

I like trees right 🌳now, plan to grow silver maple for syrup ~yellow fall color along with red leaf trees , black gum (known to become a source for wild honey) and red oak for wildlife forage. So much work 🐝🐞🐜🐛 to keep a garden going over several generations 🌼🌹🌱, nice it found a home in Gaspé 🐋🦀. Sad Elsie started flower plantings ...as a way to recover from illness (imo appendicitus was a loss of life presence 🎊 through her relative's wealth from railroads🚝, causes embankment wildfires 🎢like recently in France during heatwaves, dry conditions. Serious threat to west Canada today too when temperatures soar, 🌇 Gardening takes alot of strength and lifting potted plants, mulch etc.... if workaround that or find a team of helpers, get health from having fresh grown food. Sometimes takes 🕊 alot 🎂 to 📷 learn to go slow 🔌 unplug 🌦 to water 💙 and tend flower beds, especially from ❤💚seed 💌. Slow food 🍴can be best for longevity if create a commitment a work schedule, embrace a life for it one day.
