Lovely to see how this song has resonated with so many people. This was the song that empowered me when I just graduated college in a strange country, in the middle of recession with no job prospects. I didn't want to return to my home country and back to a toxic family situation, but I had no choice.
I remember watching this live in 2009 and crying my eyes out after this performance - when i returned to my home country, Defying Gravity was in my constant song rotation for the following 5 years - through tears and fights and family guilt-tripping, and finally moving away to a job that I actually wanted rather than working for my parents' failing business, listening to them fight 24hr nonstop...
I'm happy now, and I'll always have fond memories about this song.
