Listen:    • Lorde - Mood Ring

Lorde lacks the writing chops or perspective to follow through on Solar Power's themes and satire.

Saying “I wish I was the cameraman who took the album photo” isn’t much of a review melon

Well contrary to your opinion, Anthony, I believe Solar Power is an important renewable energy source and that it will thrive way into the next millennium.

"I am Lorde, Ya Ya Ya" was a pretty great track.

I don't necessarily disagree, but it's still a top 3 Lorde album.

Why can't people understand that lorde can be happy and make a bad album at the same time

I’m gonna be honest, I just kinda put the album on with little intention of listening to the actual lyrics the first time around, and after finishing the album I told my friend “this album sounds to me like a girl that moved out to California for the “California dream”, gets jaded by what she see in LA, but then… continues to live in LA and do touristy stuff and gives in to the culture there unironically.” And after listening to the lyrics again… I still hold that sentiment lol.

Good thing Lorde is probably chilling with some penguins in Antartica and won’t see this

I bet if Cal Chuchesta recreated that album cover, it would be a 10/10.

You know even the stans hated this album when melon gives it a 4/10 and it hasn't been ratio'd to death

I liked it when melon said "the music is more ass than the cover"

staring at the album cover in complete silence for 10 minutes is not a review

“It reads like satire without the satire.” YES. You have perfectly phrased my exact thoughts on this album.

I feel like when he has to give a negative review to a good/successful artist he sounds genuinely upset

Ah I see. Lorde can’t get a red flannel because Melodrama can’t get a yellow flannel

"I thought I was a genius, but now I'm twenty two" must be the most Lorde line Lorde has ever written.

What hit me was none of the songs have intros? The pace of the album felt so stilted with almost every song straight into vocal with no build up or atmosphere. I agree about the dead space in the middle. I love Oceanic Feeling so much I wish the rest of the album was like it. Feel like it finally captured the sound and the vibe after circling the drain and then it ends! Lorde is fantastic but I felt like it missed a lot of her usual genius.
