“Performing at the Oscars was honestly one of the most traumatising experiences of my entire life. The ceremony was like a horrifying Scientology end-of-year prom that represented everything I hate about America and popular culture.” um he spilled

"That sounds different. Did you change it?" "Oh, I changed it a little bit." "Why?" "I just sang it the way Justin Bieber would have sung it if he'd altered Sufjan's version." "Sing that again." "Sing what again?" "The song you sang outside." "Oh, you want me to sing the song I sang outside?" "Please." 🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵🎵 "I can't believe you changed it again." "Oh, I changed it a little bit." "Yeah. Why?" "I just sang it the way Nick Jonas would have sung it if he'd altered Justin Bieber's version." "And what is wrong with Sufjan? The way Sufjan would have sung it?" "Sufjan never wrote it for the guitar. In fact, we're not even sure if Sufjan wrote it at all." "Forget I asked."

This should have won. There's a timeless quality to this song. It's meandering, sensual and quietly tragic. It has so many layers and so many interesting references brought together to make a unique mood filled with nostalgia and heartbreak. It's moving.

One of my favourite modern film song ever. To be fair Remember Me from Coco was fantastic. But this was intimate and personal.
