Bro misunderstood this song so hard. It’s not just a “but the lyrics are so down” happy song with juxtaposed dark lyrics. It’s meant to be cathartic, like it’s from the perspective of looking back at a dark moment. It’s the rush of adrenaline from making it out of a near death experience. Also can nothing sound upbeat anymore without the “lol target commercial” comparison?

I respectfully disagree brad, I know the ukulele can be really cheesy at times(not to talk about a certain apology video) but it kinda fits with the pop rocky vibe they bring with this single. Sounds very fresh and the lyrics werent cringe imo. Im not a huge of of the duo to be honest but I def see the excitement surrounding their upcoming album.

I think the one issue with your analysis (correct me if I am wrong) but the contrasting "happy" sounds with the "depressing" lyrics actually fits, hear me out. To me it sounds like he didn't care anymore about his life, hence the chaotic and fast paced sound. However, at the end he finds peace and hope when he is saved by the driver, hence the calming sounds. To me it actually seems to fit quite well.
