13:50 he didn’t choose Annabeth because he knew she would betray him, he chose her because he thought they would never be friends so she couldn’t betray him. Because he will be betrayed by one who calls him friend

I liked how the trio immediately figures out they entered Medusa's lair, it shows the characters being realistically aware and observant, and it also saves some much of the episode's runtime, rather then having them be annoyingly unaware of the obvious danger and wasting the runtime with building up a twist that all of us (those who've readied the books and those who haven't) already knows.

One thing I really like is how they are building up Luke’s arc of resenting the God’s. The portrayal of Medusa as someone who had been wronged as well as Percy and Annabeth mentioning their strained relationship with their godly parent throughout, I think it all foreshadows the conflict to come about if the gods are really the good guys very well. It certainly helps the viewers and Percy himself sympathise with Luke’s cause

Percy didn’t really chose his companions in the book. Grover was essentially automatically on the team, stilled tasked with protecting Percy to qualify to become a searcher (they haven’t mentioned any of this yet in show); Annabeth was invisible and listening when Percy was given the quest as she had already volunteered since Percy is the special demigod she had to wait for to be allowed to see the world, and Percy knew right away who was crazy enough to volunteer was and didn’t question her joining.
Basically all monsters regenerate in Tartarus and can never be permanently killed. This includes the Minotaur and Gorgons. Alecto is Hades’ right-hand Lieutenant so she gets out quicker, essentially immediately, to do his biding.

I also really like how they did Medusa. I am disappointed that they figured out it was her instantly, but I’m glad it was annabeth that figured it out because it’s shows more of her being a daughter of Athena. I also think the acting in this entire sequence was amazing, they all did incredible! I can’t wait to see the Chimera in episode 4!

I really like how this episode makes the gods seem more questionable, especially with how Medusa was bullied by Athena, despite how Annabeth is very loyal to her mother. This just might further add more to a certain character's motivation and how some other demigods side with them.
And maybe they're saving the whole explanation of Percy being a forbidden child in a later episode or season when we meet other children of the Big Three, as that would make sense to bring that up then.

I think they really nailed the beginning of the trios relationship and how Grover has to constantly stop the two arguing as well the comments about how they need to trust each other. I feel these are especially important to highlight the scene of Percy and Annabeth getting along in the back of the truck and in Waterland whilst Grover is not there as well as the scene where Percy is about to fight Ares and both Annabeth and Grover show that he can trust them and that they are a team.

I really enjoyed this episode, it was super funny and I loved the dynamic of the trio. I especially loved the banter between Percy and Annabeth, it felt like I was reading the book. I will say though, I didn’t like the reveal of Medusa, I felt that it was very rushed, I like the scene in the book better, but I understand why they sped up the scene, considering that the show only has 8 episodes, meaning they’ll have to speed things up. I also wish that the action sequence was a bit longer, but other than that, this was definitely my favorite episode so far.

Showing Medusa not as a vengeful monster but as a victim consumed by centuries of grudge was a stroke of genius. So many of the so-called "Monsters" and "Villains" in ancient Greece are just innocent people caught in the crossfire of tantrums between gods.
