I'm a gay man who grew up Southern Baptist. When I realized that I was gay and not really welcomed in the church, I ran away. Now in my early 30s I can feel myself being drawn back to the comfort God provided me in those early years. Kacey does an impeccable job on this song getting those feelings I have now out in the open.

She wants to speak with God , i think we all have moments where we wonder what all this pain/beauty in life means.

As a kid that grew up in church but doesn’t go anymore, yes.

Hitting my 30’s has made this song resonate with me so much. There is so much to unpack in the grand scheme of life with all of the beautiful, horrible, and surreal experiences you go through. I always get lost in her music, but this one in particular has me coming back at 3am to replay and ponder what it all means. Thank you Kacey for the free therapy and reflection time.

Even something as small as an apple It's simple and somehow complex Sweet and divine The perfect design Can I speak to the architect? And there's a canyon that cuts through the desert Did it get there because of a flood? Was it devised or were you surprised When you saw how grand it was? Was it thought out at all Or just paint on a wall Is there anything that you regret? I don't understand Are there blueprints or plans Can I speak to the architect? Sometimes, I look in the mirror And wish I could make a request Could I pray it away Am I shapable clay Or is this as good as it gets? One day, you're on top of the mountain So high that you'll never come down Then the wind at your back Carries ember and ash That burns your whole house to the ground Is it thought out at all Or just paint on a wall Is there anything that you regret? I don't understand Are there blueprints or plans Can I speak to the architect? I thought that I was too broken And maybe too hard to love I was in a weird place Then I saw the right face And the stars and the planets lined up Does it happen by chance Is it all happenstance Do we have any say in this mess? Is it too late To make some more space Can I speak to the architect? This life that we make, is it random or fate Can I speak to the architect? Is there an architect?

Can we all please agree this song is the best on the Deeper Well album. Soft but uprising. This song, cardinal and Heaven Is are 10/10.

This is an amazing song for those of us who constantly hear stories of an architect but have never been shown proof of one. All that's left, for a reasonable person, is to ask the question "Is there an architect". Brilliantly wrote and sung. So mesmerizing.

This woman is a gift from God. The wholesomeness is stunning and simply a revelation. God bless her and keep her.

The most important lyric is the last lyric, "Is there an architect?". The answer is we don't know until we die. And that begs the question, if we die and we just die, we'll never find out anyway, right?. It's all a mystery. Our whole lives it is instilled in us that there is some almighty being that watches over us, takes care of us and there is a Heavenly place we go to. We can only hope that we see our loved ones again in that place! But Is there a place!? Why do we go though so much pain, if there is a higher entity that could help us? In the meantime we should just think , as Kacey says in "Heaven Is", of what reality is here as we are living on this earth and love our loved ones here while we can and do the best we can.

Every time I heard one of Kacey's song fior the first time, I shed a tear because of how beautiful the music was, because her voice melodies and songs touch me. This one is no exception.

This is one of those startlingly beautiful songs you wonder how the singer could ever possibly surpass.

I thought that "Rainbow" was perfection. What do you call something that's more perfect than perfection?
