Let Nero fiddle out Rome's obsequies. — George Daniel, Trinarchodia

In 64 AD, a great fire broke out in the majestic city of Rome, burning without a stop for days and tearing to the ground a large part of the ancient metropolis. And while the fire was burning the Romans alive, soul by soul, their Emperor, Nero, was playing his lyre and signing about the Fall of Troy.
That is, at least, what the legend says, while its modern versions put on Nero's hands the violin instead of the lyre. Even if the story was never confirmed, taking its place in the realm of the ancient tales, it led to the birth of the phrase "fiddling while Rome burns," used when someone shows indifference to a crisis or disaster.
In this video, filmed inside the Cyprus Archaeological Museum in Nicosia, Theodore Koumartzis performs the melody on his LUTHIEROS lyre while Costas Cacoyannis plays on his violin.

Oh wow… This is a gorgeous combination, lyre and violin and my first thought was, this music could awaken the stone figures in the museum! 😳 It’s startlingly beautiful!

Bonjour. ❤🎉Merci !
