Specters are the ones with the horns that you can hack. Stalkers are the ones with the nose & armor that explode.
Several times you could have hacked Specters & have them as your ally. Considering you used friendly fire ticks I wouldn't call it against the challenge rules. Even if you did get some Specters, I'm not sure if they would do much.
Also in the gun executions you steal their pistol & use it against them. Technically you never fried your own guns.
