Octaves can be one of the biggest problems flutists confront when first starting out or even in later development. Today I talk about several ways to go about getting the best octaves in your flute playing. Blending and getting those high and low notes to sound silky smooth takes time and using these exercises and tips you'll get there in no time. We all want easier high notes, right?

Included in the video is a daily flute octave exercise for any flutist to use and have fun with. Play any scale with it. I hope this makes learning octaves easier for you.

Having Legato Octaves takes patience but I assure you with patience and practice you can do it! Let's all try to get that best flute sound!

Love the earrings? Did you catch them? They're custom made by Craft YouTuber Heather Boyd! You can request them to be made over at her Esty Store!

Thanks for this excercise, I haven’t played in several years and the first thing I noticed was that I couldn’t play any notes higher than G. This excercise really helped.

Great advice!. The only thing I would change is Air Speed for Air Pressure but I got the point. Thanks!

Thanx so much. I was having problems going from one register to another when playing songs and having that problem of not staying in one octave when noted.

It's not as hard as it looks, but I can still tell this is going to take a lot of practice to do well. At least now I know how. Extremely helpful video.

Another wonderful lesson! Thank you I learn so much from you:) question: how do you play long clear high notes? I have alot of difficulty keeping the sound even without it dipping back down into the lower register.

I like this exercise. Do you know where i might find it printed. I Have to see it printed to play it. Im kind of weird that way. By the way, I am still working on that Kohler Op 33 no 1 Etude that you played and i fell in love with :)
