First time hearing this intro since 1981 (I was 9) and the spinal shivers returned! Chilling and ominous intro...stuff of nightmares!

This was a fantastic adaptation. And the theme from Christopher Gunning is the stuff of nightmares.

To say this was made all the way back in the 80’s this has to be the best adaptation of the book. This was back when the BBC still produced good dramas. There has been 1 movie adaptation as well as a 2 part TV Movie, but both deviate so far from the book, neither resemble the original story

This 1981 version is a very good serialisation of the book.

One horrifying adaptation. Not surprised the BBC hides it away in a murky greenhouse.

Reminds me of the opening to Children of the Stones.

This is actually an attempt to follow the plot of the novel. In general, this production of "Day of the Triffids" sticks quite closely to the book. However, I was hoping for more than 6 episodes. There should have been nearer 10 as some parts of the plot feel a bit rushed.
I still enjoy this BBC version in comparison to that 1962 film.

"Probably one of the creepiest theme tunes to any TV series!"

It was okay. For that statement though, Children of the Stones is more fitting.

although i first watched these very scary opening titles as a teenager, even now as an adult no doubt if i stare at them to much i still need a change of underwear, and the best opening titles from years gone seem to have come from sci fi shows, namely survivors, v, battlestar galactica, blakes 7, buck rogers in the 25th century, space 1999, and the tripods to name but a few.

Perfect soundtrack for a Conservative Party political broadcast.
