"Enjoy the Silence" is a song by English electronic music group Depeche Mode. Recorded in 1989, it was released as the second single from their seventh studio album, Violator (1990), on February 5, 1990. The single was certified Gold in the United States and Germany. The song won Best British Single at the 1991 Brit Awards.
On December 2, 1989, "Enjoy the Silence" was performed live at Peter's Pop Show in Germany, and became the music video for the song.
"Enjoy the Silence" was reissued as a single in 2004 for the Depeche Mode Remixes 81–04 remix project, and was titled "Enjoy the Silence (Reinterpreted)" or, more simply, "Enjoy the Silence 04".

I don’t understand why they made people lip sync for tv shows back then. You notice none of the mics or instruments have cords ... I’ve been to Depeche Mode shows several times thru the 90’s/oo’s and they are perfectly capable of performing live.
