When I read Y/N, I don’t use myself. I make a character or one I use often to replace it so I can read it as not me but another person. It feels weird reading it as me.

I never read y/n stuff. nothing against it, im sure a lot of it is good, but goddamn I read fanfiction to disassociate and fall into the fictional lives and relationships of my favorite fictional characters, not have to think about existing around them! meeting my favorite fictional character would be a nightmare! what if they didn’t like me! The first time I ever came across the term Y/N, my cousin wanted me to critique her fanfic, and she read it out loud to me. I thought it was an actual name, spelled in my head like "Wayenne" or something. I said, "Hey, that's an interesting name for an MC! Where'd you come up with it?"

i propose we use the term "breaking containment" for fics that become well-know outside of their fandoms. this can be the levels of infamy of my immortal or digger goes to taco bell, or the levels of quality and insanity of down to agincourt. if it is "readable" to and/or known by people outside the fandom, it has broken containment

3:33 I had a similar experience one where I convinced my 8th grade English teacher that the smut book I was reading was a book. so to prove that I was just reading a book I switched the tab on my phone to another fanfic and showed it to her and it somehow worked. So from then on I was allowed to read fanfics on my phone and I still get away with it even in my other class

Believe it or not my English teacher was the one who recommended Wattpad to me. She said about the app in class but I could see immediate regret on her face 😂😂
She refused tell the spelling of the app so that we won't be able to search in on Google properly, but after repeated guesses I found it anyway 😂😂
