The simmer pot is the simplest way to bring fragrance and magical energies into a space. Because it requires no special equipment and no open flames, it is safe for any environment. If you have a way to cook you have a way to make a simmer pot.
This technique also uses the element of water in harmony with air, instead of the union of fire and air that we see with incense. This means that it has a deeper resonance with things under the governance of water, such as the emotions and subconscious. The type of water you choose can have its own impact- in my pot I have used fresh-fallen snow for its symbolism of peace, quiet, and a clean slate.

I have an enamel steamer that I use on top of my wood stove to increase humidity in the room, and often add some sage and cinnamon, or clipped tips from my old christmas tree and cinnamon, or even some loose incense. I hadn't considered filling it with snow, when available! If we get more this season I'll try that. I like all the other ideas you give here!

Thanks for reaching hygge, great word. I am one of those people who doesn't like incense smoke bc I have dry eyes. Also candles make me nervous? I just imagine my entire house catching on fire. I love how simple this is.

The last summer pot I made was done with Moon water of sorts. Night of the full moon we got clobbered with a freak pop up from nowhere Spring storm. Oklahoma Need I say more ? So it was water collected from that storm. My boyfriend says the air is too heavy with simmer pots

All the herbs people keep, that expire. You could always use it in your witchcraft practice. 1 keep them in a sacketbag (mojo bag) 2 a witch jar spell, 3 or put them in jars with oil, to make spell oils. (Cinnamon oil) for example. I hate throthing herbs away.

Hygge is pronounced “heh-geh” not “hoo-gah” :) I’m Swedish but know some Danish too. We have a nicer word. Mysig, “me-seag “!
