The thing is the fancy strip with all the flashy lights and casinos... well that isn't Las Vegas, it often is (incorrectly) referred to as Las Vegas and it's marketed as Las Vegas but the reality is it isn't Las Vegas, the casinos actually occupy the unincorporated towns of Paradise and Winchester and yeah it's a tiny area. Las Vegas itself is the vast majority of suburban sprawl that most tourists don't venture into and is quite large as a whole, not as big as NYC yeah but it's roughly half the size of NYC.
