Its frustrating that he's so big and yet the spots you can hit reliably are so small. And he's freaken squirrely to boot, making getting combos on him a royal pain. He's almost more tedious to fight than he's worth.

When he's in his glow phase, his chest is a weak point as well. Dragon piercing his chest with the bow when he's like that will do a lot of damage if you get in the right position.

Xeno was actually wayyy too easy, with some high rank armor and a high rank weapon hell die quickly. With an insect glaive, mine was vice he was out in about 13m.

Big help for myself and probably the only reason I managed to kill him on the first time? I fired the piercing pods at his face while he was looking at me. The pods hit his entire length, dealing 6-10 damage over 20 times. for each pod. It winds up being an absolute ton of damage and I even knocked his tail off doing this.

I followed this guide, and it's really helpful, but I kept forgetting to go into Demon Mode to do more damage, and I ran out of time when it was at really low health. Probably could've killed it sooner if I had hit it more, went into Demon Mode more often, and used more combos.
Now I have to do it all over again. 😔

For some reason, I found the Xeno'jiva fight more easy than the Vaal hazak fight

I think it’s important to mention that if you are far away and can’t dodge any of his sweeping laser attacks, with some good timing you can roll straight through them with out taking damage. This works for any other sweeping attack, like Teostra when he spews a stream of flames or Vaal Hazak when he fires a sweeping cloud of Effluvium.

I think its easier if using insect glaive weapon.. set the insect to poison effect and make an aerial move attack to his head..

Things you didn't mention : 1. The ledge and crystal slopes can be used to do aerial moves into him. Especially useful for the DB spine roll. If angled correctly, you can roll his entire body, head to tail or tail to head. 2. First area had 4 boulders, I know of, you can drop on top of him for great damage and potential material drop. 3. If a part on him is glowing, it is a weak point to hit. 4. When he is in the air, pick up the slinger ammo. Dragon pods and slinger bombs will drop him off hit in the chest enough. Same for ranged weapons. 5. If you sever the tail, it's an additional 2 carves. Which can be a gem if lucky.
