When I think of the concept of sisterhood, I think of the characters Celie and Netti - true sisters in life - true family - true ride or die for life (" Us have one heart"). We can't choose our family. For Taraji, Fantasia and Danielle I think of women who are the product of the same community of circumstances - living in the same space/town, dealing with the same men who are their stepfathers, fathers, husbands, father of their children, their friend and their worst enemy depending on the time of day. I may be able to relate the characters of The Color Purple to your own life as Fantasia did to Celie. I cry when I hear Fantasia parallel Celie's life circumstances to her own over 50 years later in history. This should not be happening. In addition, I can only compare the life of Celie to Whoopi and Fantasia as they were the only two (2) actors who was allowed to appear in The Color Purple - musical. I believe that a true sisterhood does exist between all of the ladies from the 1985 movie, the Broadway cast and now the musical; not to one persons of the sisterhood or show. I have three (3) sisters and we grew up in a small town. Not one of us is more important than the other. We are in amazement of each other and our individual accomplishments. We each have something different to offer the other. Treasure your time together. Keep in touch with each other. I am not sure that the same relationships exist among all the ladies the original cast. Don't forget about the men, they need their leading ladies.
