I hate when ppl complain that this show has horrible unlikeable characters. A lot of the criticism I see is often people who seemed to have missed the point of the show entirely. Honestly I saw a lot of the show as satire of millennials. Lena Dunham knew exactly how she was writing these characters to be and what aspects she was poking fun at. They are ridiculous and immature at times but the show is truly representative of the struggles, worldview, and sometimes spoiled nature of young people of that generation and socio-economic status.

Marnie is quite possibly the most psychotic character ever on television. But I love her and love the show. This makes me want to revisit the entire series. It was just so well written. I know it got a lot of hate but I think a big portion of that hate were people who saw themselves in these flawed characters and didn't want to confront it. Also, the show wrote the male characters very well in how they react and interact with women.

This show was always so interesting to me. I didn't like any of the characters (except maybe Ray) and it existed in some far away version of New York that either doesnt exist to anyone or to very select people and yet there's something that always captivated me about it. Each episode was like a small horror story of what being 22-27 can be like, granted in a privileged big city which was not my experience lol. But still there were so many small moments that resonated and I still think about. When Hannah tells Shoshanna that college is the best years of your life and thats why she applied to grad school every year since graduation...I had been out of school for 3 years and had also applied for graduate school every single one. Or when Marnie, after spending a night with a drugged out Charlie, tells her husband that she feels like a ghost of herself and doesn't know what she is doing there or anywhere.

This show is easily one of the best things to come out on TV ever. Witty, talented, extremely funny. The show was often nothing but ruthless towards the main characters and their shortcomings but at the same time you could feel how dear to Lena's heart was each and one of them and it made the viewers feel compassion for these people. Not being an American or even middle-class I could still relate to many of the themes brought up by this show. Love Girls.

This show reminds me of the time I used to have close friends and then we grew up and drifted apart. Sometimes it was good and sometimes it was bad. And thatâs okay. When I finally saw those friends again, confronting those old feelings of âwhat happened to us?âwasnât even worth it. It took me a while to realize that it is for the best to let go of people that wanted nothing to do with you or got what they wanted from you.

Girls will always be one of my favorites. So brilliantly written, so witty and so true to being in your twenties. I will always hold this series close to my heart and I will always revisit this series especially because Iâve now entered my 20s and it rings even more true now than ever before.

Iâm a 34 year old male and I only just watched this a couple of months back. All seasons. Mostly an enjoyable watch and I always wanted the girls to get a long a bit better. They often acted self absorbed but I get that was part of the point. There really needs to be more shows like this about real women.

âYou just watch a season of Girls and do the opposite of what they do. Itâs easy.â
