When women came onto the rock and folk scene in the 70’s, they were a huge and important part of my musical upbringing. Bonnie Raitt, Emmy Lou Harris, Linda Ronstadt, Joni Mitchell. THIS is what you remind me of.
THIS is what we need more of these days.
BRAVO, and please keep up the good work!! Beautiful!

This little performance just exemplifies what I like about Sarah Jarosz. She doesn't write just one type of song. She doesn't just play one type of tune. Her phrasing changes. Her playing shows she has listens to a lot of difft music but she never copies it. Some people I love but I can only listen to for an hour or so because their style is limited, or their songwriting only covers a narrow range of life. Not her. Her playing and singing and songwriting is broad enough I can listen for a LONG time and it's never cloying.

A few nights ago I was in a dark place and listening to something familiar and afterward a 2017 Shrewsbury video auto played - the volume was much louder because it was mixed properly and the one I was listening to before wasn't - When it started i urgently went to turn the volume down because it was late, but by the time i could find my wireless mouse it was too late and she started to sing - it was really loud but energizing - i put the thing on repeat and have listened to it for three days - now its time to check out this - i recognize a few of the songs from skimming through this quickly. Amazing the power of music and its properties with regard to delivering one from the dark places in life...

Folk/folk rock is the apex of the singer-songwriter and this is a prime example of what that is. She is amazing in a world of music that seems to have no direction at all. Joni Mitchell, David Crosby, Neil Young, Graham Nash, Jackson Browne, Peter McGuinn just to name a few from the late sixties and early seventies that paved the way for artist’s like Sarah and her talents to be realized. Please keep this going Sarah you are needed today.

You can just feel how personal these songs are to Sarah. This 68 YO grandmother loves them all!
