This packaging reminds me of how much efforts companies used to put into these things. I remember getting a copy of Windows 8 back in the day and was disappointed at how it was just a white box with some text and minimal paperwork inside along with the disc. I know producing paper manuals and other things like that is probably considered wasteful, but they didn't have to get rid of creative packaging design as well!

Windows XP being 20 years old makes me feel old haha. It was a part of my childhood. A bunch of firsts for me was on XP, first time playing computer games, first time on the web with Firefox, downloading Windows Updates, downloading and playing flash games online, and more.
It's my first time seeing what the other content of the box are (since legit copies of XP are very rare where I live and cracked copies of XP Pro sell for about $2 per disc were common) and damn did they double down on the words with "xp" on the box and marketing with "experience" and "explore".

A fun fact about Windows XP SP2 is Microsoft offered the service pack as a free CD in the post here in the UK (as obviously a lot of Internet connections were still far too slow to download it), I somehow ended up ordering over 300 CDs and they all turned up at once in the post, don't think the postman was best pleased! I then sold them for a couple of pounds on eBay and ended up making a couple of hundred pounds in the end which was huge for me as a 13-14 year old at the time!

I remember seeing xp professional and home in almost every store in early 2002 like office depot, Costco, Sams Club even Walmart was big on sales with this especially with the earlier post holiday season discounts. It was the changing point of Windows as a whole. I didn't like the change at first and preferred OSX and OS9 over XP but gradually changed over the course of a few years. I used XP and Windows 7 as a whole the majority of my life truthfully and honestly its ease of use was what I liked the most.

Oh wow, this is the first time I've seen a new copy of Windows XP where the whole box wasn't completely enclosed in a blister pack, but instead sealed with a simple sticker. My copy of XP Professional came in a blister pack, but the box inside it is the same as yours. Windows XP has the best designed packaging out of any copy of Windows, in my honest opinion.

Looking back at it, it's weird that I grew up with only the "weird" versions of Windows. I had Windows ME on my first computer and then when we upgraded, our computer had Windows XP: Media Edition with the cool silver toolbar. I think 7 was the normal version, but I'm SO glad I never had to suffer through Vista.

This is a fantastic way of celebrating Windows XP's 20th anniversary: having fun with unboxing and experiencing Windows XP all over again! Congratulations!
