Here's an idea for a dweller:
A monster that can pose as any of the main 4 peaceful mobs that you can find anywhere. It can spawn in broad daylight, or pitch blackness under a 10 block high roof, which would allow it to spawn in large caves, but prevent it from spawning in the typical player base. It mimics the sounds of peaceful mobs, and doesn't transform into it's true monster form until the player is within 6 or so blocks of it, and wouldn't chase the player until after it transforms. After the transformation, which would be immediate, the monster's animal calls suddenly become distorted and drawn out into haunting howls of the hunt as it chases after its prey. It wouldn't be quite as fast as the other dwellers, just slightly slower than the player by a tick or two, but it would be a major heavy hitter. It would climb, swim, crawl through a one block gap, and break doors and glass to get at the player. To prevent it from spawning too close, it would have to appear outside a radius of 15 to 20 blocks, which would make walls imperative for any house or structure standing alone. Maybe it could even break any wood blocks, which would encourage players to build out of stone or some other tougher block to make sure it can't get in. It would be terrifying, and would make every player weary of killing random mobs out in the open. Making an animal farm would be safe, since it doesn't spawn upon the death of an animal, and couldn't anyway if you kept the roof low enough. It could be called "Mania" or "The Formless" or "Prion" (after the chronic wasting disease that you can't tell an animal has until it's too late). It could be 3 blocks tall and thin, with sickly yellowish gray skin, a black mouth that extends outwards into a vile grin full of sharp teeth, black eyes, and sharp red claws. You could probably also cover its back in short black spines. It should look starved and hunched over, but gleeful in the way that it hunts you, excited that it's trick worked, and sure that it will catch you.
I don't know, I think it would be really scary for something like that to be casually stalking you throughout the world, and you'd be unable to tell it wasn't a normal animal until it was too late.
