Here we have probably my second favourite instrumental of all time, and even though this beautiful instrumental was released in late 1959, i have gone for a 60's theme for this video as all the footage here was in the 1960's and filmed in London.. This tune was played throughout the 60's, and in my opinion symbolizes the 1960's, and it was used in many TV programs and films during this period, and made it to number 25 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 5 on Billboard's Easy Listening chart in 1961, two years after its initial release.. This one was also re-recorded in 1961 with lyrics written by Dave Brubeck and his wife Lola.. Put your headphones on for this one, its totally awesome...

one of the best, first 33rpm record I bought, had green onions, apache, A Summer place, and a few others, fantastic album, but Take 5 really turned me on to how much drums can do

the two greatest Jazz albums ever recorded were in 1959... the year I was born... Brubeck's - Take Five and Miles Davis' - Kind of Blue.

A wonderfully hypnotic piece, always a favourite. Good to see the old London footage.

I have great memories associated with Dave Brubeck and Take Five particularly. I grew up listening to his cool jazz on a stereo that my mother built with her own two hands. Yes, she soldered the components together and made her own stereo. Thanks for the good vibes. Laurie

I grew up listening to Dave. My brother brought home an amazing stereo system when he got out of the Airforce in the Philippines.

I was seventeen when this was released. I had joined the merchant navy as deck boy and my first port of call was Montreal Canada. I remember walking past a milk bar where this was playing on the juke box. I stood outside wondering what on Earth it was. I'd never heard anything like it. Years later I attended a Dave Brubeck concert at the Royal Albert Hall in London and was sadly disappointed. He played a suite of music dedicated to Jerusalem and there were no happy Hava Nagilas, just boring dirges. Later that year I bought 'Countdown Time in Outer Space, which I still own and treasure. He was forgiven.

Many a happy time at St Pancras station when I was a train guard. Shame that all top buildings are now on lockdown.
