I remember when I used to watch the barbie playing videos when I was way younger and I can only imagine a 5-9-year-old kid expecting to watch their usual barbie playing videos but then being absolutely fucking traumatized by this. I love it.

This music video is such an accurate description of metal because you look at it on the surface and it just seems like chaos but you sit down and pay real attention and it IS chaos but with extreme purpose

Love how the guys drop the song and then the Barbie movie comes out and tackles very similar issues and philosophies just in a more lighthearted manner. Love to see both music and film outlets shedding light on things that get very glazed over in everyday media.

I saw Avenged Sevenfold play in NYC with Falling in Reverse back in June, this song was SO good live. I listened to A7X all the time while studying English and Zoology at csu, I even made an "Avenged Sevenfold saved my college career" posted that was unfortunately confiscated because Madison Square Garden doesn't allow large posters X( but still, it was such a glorious show and the piece of college student stuck in me after graduating in 2021 was finally at peace. Would love to meet these fellas one day and thank them personally.

I commend A7X for trying different things. In no way is this a "normal" metal track, and that's what I like about it.

I think this might be their best song when you consider how melodic everything is, the concept, the imagery portrayed, and the emotion poured in every moment. The bridge vocals @ 3:30 send chills down my spine. The emotion can be felt. The song is about everyday life in society being based on fantasy rather than reality. This idea of everything being fake even bleeds into the guitar solo in the bridge @ 3:00 sounding like synth. Insanely clever. ā€œWhile boredom tears me apart at the seamsā€ also touches on mundane day to day routines caused by superficiality and the need to imitate. I think this directly plays into the bandā€™s desire to not shit out another Nightmare, Self Titled, or HttK album, which they could have easily done. (Great albums btw) Thereā€™s also the idea of living inside a simulation, and thereā€™s even a direct quote taken from the movie The Truman Show when he sings ā€œand in case I donā€™t see you again, good afternoon, good evening, and good nightā€. And the musicality is just on another level. The first 2 ā€œIā€™ve smelled the plastic daisiesā€ Choruses 1:09 donā€™t pay off right away like a normal A7X chorus. They are only the vocal progressions with light keys that hint at the theatrics to come. After the bridge, the final Chorus 4:20 pays off in a HUGE way with the entire band joining before one of the most theatrically fitting outro moments Iā€™ve ever heard in a song. The post Chorus outro at 4:35 sounds like something youā€™d hear in an uplifting part of a wholesome movie. Itā€™s almost sarcastic in its delivery. Awesome stuff. I personally judge songs by if it makes the hair on my forearm stand up. For myself, this song sustains that feeling for almost the entirety of its runtime.

References to Truman's Show "in case i don't see you again good afternoon, good evening and good night", and philosophy in the line "smart enough to know nothing at all" (Socrates), made it my favorite song of A7x. I consider it a master piece that had the braveness to do something different adding unpredictable things, and putting weird effects in certain moments, without sounding "hard to hear", the expressiveness of the vocals it's like a theatre performance, using reverb to sound So far away from us (in certain moments), lyrics are just perfect referring a daily metaphor, and finally singing nor playing this song isn't close to be Almost easy šŸ˜‰. A wonderful song that really describes the life in the eyes of monotony, and how people are just slaves of the desires that came out of nowhere, filling our internal abyss with "normality", and refusing to accept that we lost humanity trying to be humans, sometimes feeling like we're being Buried alive in this catastrophe that we call "Society".
