jakey's videos are so fucking great because everything he does or makes or writes all revolves around how he just loves video games
as a channel, he doesn't focus particularly on aspects he values the most in a game, and he doesn't serve as a game critic in any academic sense--that is, he isn't here to explain flaws or be analytical
he isn't a particular expert on any one aspect of development or design--music, maybe, but he definitely doesn't focus on that either as an overarching theme of his channel
everything just starts with "man, i love video games" and the videos flow out of that, and you can tell it's all he needs in his process. he could discuss anything from any game or era, any aspect, and it would be an interesting, well-crafted, articulate video not because he's particularly educated on the topic, or because he spend dozens of hours researching in a library, or played the game he's talking about 15 times through, or because he's a good filmmaker/editor/animator--any number of those things might be true, but that's not why the video is good.
it's a good video because jakey just really loves video games, and that's what comes through more than anything else

There's something about your videos... And I hope you read this. There's something about your videos that have a noticeable heart. It's like you are making these videos that people have made some variation of before. Yet you a somewhat inexperienced YouTuber are making them better. And I think that's because you have a true love for it? I'm not sure. I'm not speaking soley as a fan. Or anything. But every video you put out has something to it that you can't find elsewhere. I just watched a five minute video. Just interviewing people about what games they love and why. And somehow I never felt bored. It was people I've never seen before. Never met. Never heard of. And never will again. Yet I was intrigued. Idk what it is about this page. And I ask myself that frequently when I see your videos. But I think it's because the man behind the camera. The editing. The character. Is a human who truly loves video games. In an industry so devoid of Hope and passion in the AAA market, and even lower than that... It's refreshing. Your page is refreshing. I'm happy I subbed to you when I did. Because I've seen you evolve from a goofy guy who makes GREAT goofy videos. To someone who makes these heartfelt love letters to being human. And to loving video games. And your music is phenomenal.. but that's a comment for another day. Thank you jakey. I hope someday I'm half the YouTuber you are.

Metal Slug.
My siblings fights a lot (verbally and physically) to the point I harbour ONLY hatred for the elder ones because I've been kicked, slapped, punched, choked, beated so much that I lost count.
But back then, we would play Metal Slug a lot because our parents don't want to buy any video games (not to mention we don't have any money aside for basic necesseties), so we just find games on gamepost and miniclip. I miss the teamwork and laughs we had playing the game. The screaming of telling you to be alert of this and that, asking if you took that shotgun or ate that food. It was nice. Everyone's grown already, though.
I hope before I die we get to sit down and play it again for one last time.

Bioshock. The combat combined with the different builds you could make with all the different gene tonics, weapons and plasmids just made me feel extremely powerful. It’s the first game I even attempted or even wanted to attempt the hardest difficulty and was successful. Not because of twitch reflexes or a having a ton of skill but by simply playing smart (and saving a lot when Turing of vita chambers). The feeling of accomplishment after completing it was incredible. Rapture is an amazing creation in itself, the story was top notch with the best twist in gaming History. There’s just so much to like. I enjoyed Bioshock 2 and Infinite as well but not as much as the original.
