I think the mess vs dirty thing is very intreasting because it really brings into perspective what it was like living with a Japanese student at college. Because they loved to appear clean but when it came to actually cleaning things like the bathroom and kitchen they would only complain but never did anything. It got to the point where I bought a bunch of cleaning supplies and said "I'll do the first deep clean and then you can do the next and so on from there". They ended up never doing their part after my initial clean. I know they always complained that I was the messy one though. Their desk was way nicer than mine I will admit.

I hope Kasara got home okay. I myself left Japan last summer after feeling very lonely and depressed. I was getting along with everyone and I drank a lot as my nation's supposed to but I never felt like myself. I have all these mixed feelings about Japan (after idolizing it for so long) and this episode really resonated with me. Having said that, I used to work at the airport and saw a lot of people and a lot of bathrooms and I never saw anyone spit or not wash their hands after using the toilettes. But it was Narita, not Tokyo. I also lived in small village near Narita and I'd like to say people were quite alright there. There are less of them so they see you more and get used to you very quick. It was always a relief to go back there after trips to Tokyo.

42:18 Inuit's have 40 - 50 words for snow (depending on dialect is why their is a 10 word difference) so maybe their is something too that. Although Germans have words like Schadenfreude which is just useful and for some reason English doesn't have it's own.
