There is such a bittersweet ache in Nada Surf's music, especially post-High/Lo. An unparalleled mix of wistful beauty with longing and regret. The song "Always Love" especially brings back memories of the love of my life, along with all the complexities of our passionate struggles through doubt and commitment. She was an unexpected blessing that came rushing into my life, but disappeared just as suddenly. This video came out 7 weeks before the day she passed. Thirty two years old. No warning. Just a random blood clot like a bullet to the heart, and in the span of 10 hours she was gone. You only move on from something like that because you have no choice, and you try to focus on the beauty that you had for so short a time. Nada Surf's music will always be the soundtrack of my life.
