From the last video I saw on Beavo from you guys, I recall you finding out that Beavo was from Canvey, and Southend-On-Sea being mentioned when figuring out where exactly that was. I'm from Essex, and lived in Southend-On-Sea for about 29 years so can probably help with shedding some light on locales for this entire story for ya'll. Never heard of people in/from Essex being called "Essies", normally we're compared to the cast of TOWIE (The Only Way Is Essex) no matter what we sound like. But Canvey - also known as Canvey Island (where it was mentioned Beavo was from before) - is generally joked about by pretty much everyone in Essex, including those who actually live there, that it's just 'full of chavs' and also has the same reputation in jokes as Alabama does to the rest of the world. (So the comments at 45:00ish about there being something in the water/air is pretty accurate to what people here say about Canvey!) Also, Canvey Island technically IS an island - you've got to cross a bridge to get onto it, and off of it again! (Also, we've always been told that Canvey is actually sinking and will one day be gone - there's even a water level marker on their sea wall on their "beach" to show how much further it's sunk over the years!) Essex and London are technically 2 separate counties/regions, but for most people who live in/around Southend/Canvey and the close surrounding areas it's easier for us to say we "live just outside London" when someone asks where we're from, because it's easier than having to listen to the comments about knowing/sounding like the cast of TOWIE, etc. In actual fact, it's about an hours train journey from Canvey/Southend to get to one of the main central London stations, but it is a direct journey :) No matter how much anybody from Essex will try and disguise/hide the fact they're from Essex, we will ALWAYS end up slipping into our "Essex-isms" when we speak, or we end up taking the piss out of ourselves about it.
