Easy way to hang things is to add painters tape to the back. Poke the holes out and then put the tape on the wall. Now you know exactly where to make your holes.

For the curtains if you don't want to drill holes in the wall, get Command hooks. They make some big enough to hold curtain rods and it's apartment friendly
