The main thing I took from this is yes, you can time travel on the guitar. Something I've been pondering for eons.

This is so obvious yet so elusive.. but boy does it make perfect sense. Thank you for cranking out all these videos.. It makes me feel like I have a teacher with me each day as I'm practicing.

Off topic. I have never heard a PRS acoustic and wow. Such clear, bright, ringing high notes. The tones are so well balanced across the board. Fantastic. Brilliant video, Ian. Thank you!

Wish this would have been explained to me this thoroughly at the beginning of learning how to play. Would have made things make a lot more sense and saved a lot of time. Thanks Ian!

My interpretation is music theory as well as other musical traditions like eastern ragas, are organized frameworks that are defined over time, however, songs, story telling and tune of instruments are voices, tempo and feel that are not bound to be defined by the rule all the time.

You are a master of metaphor, Ian! Framing is such an important concept, your gravity/time description really turned the lights on, thank you! πŸ™πŸΌπŸ’‘πŸͺ

Awesome thanks Stitch! I'm a banjo player, but I dig watching your videos and noodling around on the guitar with what I've learned from you. Recently I've been picking apart recordings of melodic style banjo parts for fiddle tunes. Usually I'll look up the chord chart for that particular tune, and then break the tune up into parts so that I know which piece belongs to which chord. However, I've really been struggling with how to discern if I should be trying notes from the key's scale, or from the scale of the chord that's being played. This video helped me pick apart that difference. Thanks again!

You got it across well! It's basically extended modes tutorial plus borrowed melody instead of borrowed chords. Delightful!

I heared about this topic, don`t know where. Basicly the approach was to take the pentatonic from every chrod to bulid the Solo/Melody line. First time i tryied this, it sounds Mindblowing. Try it out. 3 Easy chords, and over each Chord you choose the equivalent Pentatonik. Great lesson! I found your Channel a few days ago and in almost all clips i find something newπŸ™πŸΌ
