You can tell that the grandpa was so worried about how the family was put together that he nearly had a lethal reaction to how falken apart his family was. This grandpa is the definition of a leader. You can tell he was still heartbroken about his wife being dead. His family still treated the first holiday without the grandma like garbage. This grandpa is truly a person who has gone through something like this. The son wasn't psychotic by a long shot, it's clear he's been through it because of how his father always compares him to his brother. It's easy to infer that he has had no set way to express his emotions. He is portrayed as a bad kid for no reason, other than struggling in a class, with no support for himself. To portray a kid who just needs some help and somebody to talk to as a villain, is wrong.
