I actually really liked the texture of the crayolas I think it's interesting maybe not for hyper realism though

I can't believe crayola pencils are so cheap but they give you exactly what you need :)

I feel like prismacolor is gonna win for quality, but I wish they had the color range of the crayola. Iā€™m so excited for this video because I have been wanting to expand my skin toned pencils!

Tbh I feel like the expensive will win (random guess )but your art style makes both look AMAZING !!!ā™”ā™”ā™”even your calligraphy looks gorgeous!

I really just feel like layering with different colours is the most important part of making realistic art with watercolor pencils. I would personally choose the Prisma art supplies. But in all honesty, any one of them will do as long as they are used the right way. Once again, very helpful video.

The Crayola set feels like something a teacher buys for a classroom so everyone has a shade close to their own skin tone, but the Prismacolor set is clearly better for someone who is looking for more detail.

I love these videos! It really does show that having expensive art supplies doesnā€™t make or break your art

The way she says ā€œcolorā€ is weirdly satisfying... am I the only one thinking this?

Maybe it also depends on what you're used to. I've seen some artists make realistic portraits with this crayola set without using other blending materials. I also personally like using crayola more than faber castel. They blend better. The key is to apply colors really, really lightly. I haven't used Prismacolor but they obviously better quality.

I am so glad crayola have done lots of colours for skin, usually you get pink beige and drank brown, they deserve more hype!

Wow, what a great comparison. The prismas are so much warmer, so much more alive. I used the Crayolas in a colouring book, and although the subject was Caucasian, I ended up using the very darkest shades for shadows. So yes, I can see the need for darker shades. I even wished there were darker shades for my picture, and resorted to a Prismacolor sepia pencil. ( I love that pencil. I go through ridiculous numbers of it.) All in all, they were a good, not great, addition to my "box of many brands", and they are definitely colours that I will use in my wildlife art, so a worthwhile purchase. And even with such limited palettes, you've done a wonderful job on this portrait. (Edited for spelling error)

Beautifulā¤ļø I was able to add about 3-4 layers of the crayola pencils and they looked beautiful in my adult coloring book but I noticed the crayolas work horribly on my sketch book. I hope to get the prismacolor pencils one day.

i really love these videos, Temi, thank you. i used to be a lover of drawing as a child and life made me lose the interest. now iā€™m finally finding my love and passion for it again. iā€™ve recently bought new colouring pencils and i cant wait to delve back in! your videos really help me to understand what to do with blending and the colour scheme etc. itā€™s been fun to try out the blending technique in my sketch pad as you do and get a feel for all the colours from my faber - castell set! though after this video iā€™m definitely going to take a sneaky look at the prismacolour sets!
