The Raid 1 and 2 is a masterpiece. This is the reason why I get bored easily on other movies. My expectations on every action movie is high because of Iko haha

Raid 2 scene in the kitchen is #1. That was like 12 minutes of non-stop, adrenaline pumping, heart-stopping, a$$-kickin. When that scene was over I was hyperventilating!

Iko has such a natural intensity in the way he fights. You can see it in his facial expressions. It's like he's always fighting on the brink of death. Great talent!

For me? I like how Rama, whenever he kills someone, has a haunted expression on his face, as if to say "I can't believe I had to do that," every time. It adds a necessary layer of humanity to his character, IMO. The "Raid" movies are just poetry in motion, for me--brutal and vicious poetry, but poetry nonetheless in their delivery and style. Side note: Vanessa is poetry in motion as well (she's GORGEOUS).

The first time I ever saw Iko in The Raid I was blown away by the realistic fight scenes. The combat scenes displayed were different and intense making it one of my favorite martial art movies.

After watching his buddy Joe Taslim play Sub-Zero in the new Mortal Kombat film, I would love to see Iko Uwais play his brother Kuai Liang, who becomes the second more heroic Sub-Zero. Someone needs to make this happen.

This guy is so great...as an action star, he's able to convey the feeling of "I wouldn't be doing ANY of this if you didn't force me... But since you did, death it is."
The Raid has the best and most creative fight sequences I've ever seen. Especially considering the whole movie is basically one big fight scene separated by occasional bits of story. But I love every second of it. Lots more from him I need to check out now, thanks for this video.

Its like Evans and the raid team set the bar for martial arts films. They take themselves seriously and it works on so many levels. Raid 1&2 were straight fire. Did not try to focus on anything corny. Just giving us a concise story and an amazing set of fights. After watching Gangs of London it felt like Evans mainly did The Raid 2 in a series format. Great fights in that as well.
