imagine: it’s your big day. you’re finally getting married to the love of your life. the one who loved you for you. who loved every inches and bits of you. who shared many memories with you. the one whom you were sure to spend the rest of your life with. you and your partner have finally exchanged your vows and rings. the night was still young and the now married couple was about to share their first dance of the day. your partner takes your hand delicately and guides you to the dance floor. suddenly "if i could fly" by one direction starts playing. your now husband, holds you gently in his arms as you sway left and right, smiling at one another. you peak over your husband’s shoulder to only find your best friend making his way to the dance floor as he sings the first verse. "if i could fly, i’d be coming right back home to you" your eyes grew wide. you weren’t expecting your childhood friend, harry styles to show up so suddenly at your wedding. you haven’t seen him in a while because he was busy with his tour. of course, he was the one who had to let you know that he wouldn’t be able to show up on your big day. harry flashes a smile at you as you feel tears starting to form in your eyes. you missed him crazy and you were so happy to see him. harry walks up to the stage with the other boys joining him, louis, liam and niall. liam sings his verse and so it goes on for the rest of the songs as the boys passionately sing the song. you and your husband keep on dancing as the guests watch you both dance the night away. your husband was having a good time, knowing that he’s now going to spend his whole life with you. he couldn’t stop smiling at you and you would smile back at him. you both turned your attention to the stage and watched the guys sing. the song was slowly reaching an end and harry sang his verse... "for your eyes only, i showed you my heart" you and harry locked eyes and as he sang his part, you could’ve felt something erupting inside of you. he lowered his gaze and let the boys continue the song till the end. the song finally came to an end and the guests cheered and applauded for the boy band. the lads politely thanked the crowd and slowly the other couples gathered on the dance floor to slow dance with their loved ones. you continued to dance with your man, ignoring this foreign feeling you were feeling inside of you. the look harry gave you felt familiar but you thought it was wrong to think about it when you were dancing with your husband. "may i share this dance with y/n?" you turn around to find harry, standing with his right hand out, waiting for your husband to let you dance with your best friend. your partner nods and smiles as he pats harry’s back. he hands your hand to harry and goes to share a dance with his mother. you’re now all alone with harry as he held you closed to him. you breath in his familiar scent as you gently closed your eyes. you definitely missed this smell of his. vanilla with a mix of soft cinnamon. you lift your head to look at him, and he was already staring down at you. an innocent blush crept down on your cheeks. "missed me?" he asked with his hoarse voice. oh, how you missed the sound of his voice too. you nodded and smiled at him. "i’m glad you and the boys were able to make it in time. thank you harry." he spun you around and held you tightly enough. you laid your head on his chest, feeling a huge wave of comfort washing over you. something you’ve never felt but definitely craved for it. you felt secured in his arms. he calmly hummed to the classical music playing in the back as he rested his chin on top of your head. you closed your eyes and could hear his heartbeat. you realized how your heartbeat matched his and you found yourself smiling. this foreign feeling you felt earlier came back and you only felt butterflies going sideways inside of you. you looked up to him once again and you both stared at one another’s eyes for what felt like hours. his eyes looked like they wanted to tell you something but you couldn’t figure out what. harry spoke up, breaking the silence lingering between you. "y/n, i have something to tell y-" was the only thing he was able to say before your husband came, asking harry if he could have you back so he could share one more dance with you. harry smiled politely and handed your hand to your partner. your eyes followed harry’s and you found yourself in your man’s arm as you watched harry slowly walking away. "you okay there, love?" your husband asked as you rested your chin on his shoulder, staring at your almost gone best friend. you nodded silently as tears rolled down your cheeks. you tried to not make a sound as your heart broke in many pieces. harry was long gone from your vision and you felt loneliness creeping in. you didn’t feel safe in your man’s arms just like how you felt in harry’s. you knew it was too late for being honest about how you truly felt about him... all these years, you’ve ignored your feelings for harry because you knew he wanted something else in life which was tour the world as he sings his heart out. you knew he’d be busy with his celebrity life and that both of you wouldn’t work out as couple. that’s why you looked elsewhere and found your now husband. on the other hand, harry loved you to the moon and back but he knew it was already to late for him to confess his true feelings. he had to let you go because his happiness was yours. he knew you were happy with the life you were about to live as a new wedded woman. he wish things turned out different so you could’ve been his and not a stranger’s. he thought telling you how he felt on your wedding day would’ve been perfect but he didn’t want to be a home wrecker so he knew better. as he walked out of the venue, his heart broke in million of pieces as he cried uncontrollably. he got into his car and drove off, somewhere far where he knew he won’t see you ever again....
